New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Been following TORCHWOOD "Miracle Day" in the US and Capt Jack has shocked and awed the STARZ channel. Would the BBC have aired those episodes?

I think the Miracle Day story arc should reveal the cuplrits behind the Miracle Day - stringing out SEVEN episodes with one story Arc? Ouch.

Lets get on with the story - curiosity will give way to boredom and frustration if this goes beyond to the next episode.

Anyone else feel that way?

I"m expecting the entire arc to end with the beatiful assistant to wake up in bed complaining of having the strangest dream to find the Doctor, whom we all thought was dead, in the shower wishing his hair and smiling at her.

I thought this one was good. Seems to clean up the whole regenerating girl thing. My only complaint is the whole banana gun trick. Like River couldn't tell the difference. It made sense with Capt Jack since the handle was about the same but seriously like she couldn't tell? Nice to see some throwback to past companions even if it was only photos. A fun episode though.

I don't know what more we need to have them say it's our Doctor in the spacesuit killing a Flesh Doctor who couldn't regenerate because he was only an echo of a Timelord.

"Lets Kill Hitler" was so so..

My big issue with it was that it went too quickly through the 'evil' River phase. It would have been more interesting I think to have her act as an opponent for the Doctor for the season before she reforms and falls in love with him. Otherwise, bleh, too fast.

You know I didn't even think of that. It would have been great to make her a baddie for at least a few episodes. Having her try over and over to kill the Doctor but through interacting with him sees he is the good guy and not the enemy she has been programmed to believe. It also bugged me a bit that they seemed to have stopped looking for the baby. Rory and Amy are horrible parents if they don't want their daughter because they eventually meet her when she's older.

I too personally would have liked to see at least one more Evil River vs Doc. Overall this ep felt very rushed. Oh well. Here is to hoping the next few eps are going to be a heck of alot better.

The 1min prequel to Let's Kill Hitler showed the Doctor was looking for the baby. For all we know, he looked for a hundred (Timelord) years. And then in the first minutes of the episode they explain the kid has been with Amy and Rory all along.

Two questions:

1) Was it the Tardis or Amelia that said "fish fingers and custard" while the doc was dying? They didn't show who says it.

2) Where did the doctor then go and get the tuxedo? At Rory and Amy's wedding he was wearing a tux (with a corsage) and when they find him in the Tardis he said he had to "pop off for a bit because he was busy with something". When he appears in Amy's room he has no corsage (but still a pin). Let's Kill Hitler tux had no corsage (but still a pin).

I think they crammed the whole Baby/Melody/River story into one episode to get it over and done with - River had started to dominate and become bigger than The Doctor. After all it's his shown and we need to get back to his story.

Good call. Remember he was travelling back through his own timeline last season and we saw him show up now and then and it didn't make sense until the end? Like when he talks to blind Amy wearing his coat even though he walked away from her without it on? Turns out it was future him slipping back as his timeline was unravelling. Maybe we have more that this time with the tux. :behave

Also, I was geekfesting all over the more classic coat he had on for most of LKH. It felt like some of the old school showed up to say hi.

The "Fish fingers and custard" scene still has me scratching my head though? What signifigance did that have to his situation dying on the floor of the Tardis?
Someone mentioned the tuxedo thing - is this episode somehow linked to the finale of series 5?
I also want to say that I really doubt at this point that River is the one in the space suit that kills the Doctor. Why would they go through the trouble of not revealing who is behind the mask in the first place if they werent going to save the big reveal for the finale of series?

Well you'd think they'd run it for at least a little while. Last season River Song made a big deal about how the Doctor would find out all about her and everything would change. What really changed? That the Doctor disarmed her a couple times in the episode but then she's right back to being in love. Just bad writing. Really disappointed with this season.

My bet is that he took a few side trips in the 20 or so minutes he had left before he showed up in the tux and we'll see what some of them are in the finale. They've been pulling a lot of stuff where they leave details out or do things that make no sense in the moment but make perfect-ish sense in the end. Time Travel; befuddling stuff.

I told you guys already: the arc is going to end with the beautiful assistant waking up in bed, walking into the bathroom muttering about having had the strangest dream and the Eighth Doctor will lean out of the shower with a smile and shampoo in his hair and ask her about it. :lol
