New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

I swear if that were the case, the "beautiful assistant" better be frakking gorgeous to make for such a cop out LOL

What does "child of the Tardis" mean? Were Rory and Amy getting it on and somehow some Tardis mojo got injected into Amy?

As much was said in "A Good Man Goes to War."
Since the child was conceived while the Tardis was in the time vortex, it was given timelord properties. (Apparently the timelords only evolved into what they were after prolonged exposure to the vortex.)

So River not only has a "Time Head" because she was conceived in the Tardis but, she's also part Auton? Dayum.

nah, the Auton Rory never happened (at that point) Once it had reached the wedding, the whole erased, brought back as an auton thing never happened.
How Rory remembers it all is another matter.

There is actually my point though: Rory existed as an Auton because the collective bad guys scanned Amy's memories and recreated him as an Auton. The Doctor was brought back from the far side of the cracks because Amy remembered him and the Tardis. If Amy remembered all that and therefore continued their existences then since Rory remembered his existence as an Auton in the alternate timeline then it is still, at least in part, real. Since to Rory having been both Rory and and Auton is real because of his memories then Rory still retains part of the existence of being an Auton and has passed it on to River. Keep an eye on her right hand, you never know...

I think they explained a number of things about what happens with the time-lords, the TARDIS and not only how they began but how they learn. This information was used by moffit to create a decent explanation for River's abilities.
We know that when the Time-lords are young they are taken to the Eye....they look into the vortex and can begin studies as time-lords. Their ability to percieve time and live a long time as well as the regenerations are by products of exposure to the void, vortex and must be some type of adaptation given also by the TARDIS.
The TARDIs are grown....which could mean they live as well. They showed a wonderful human interpretation of the TARDIS earlier this season which further suggests she is a living entity. It is a wonderful thing too. She communicates with those inside her and gives them abilities such as the language thing they explained.
Rory and Amy did the deed and created Melody in the time vortex aboard the TARDIS so it would be assumed that like the , timelords who were not born originally of the vortex but adapted to it by being concieved within it, is essentially a Human Time-lord created as the Galifrey Time-lords were. She has some of the same abilities but they will also be different because she is human with only one heart (or is she).
I also hope they do something with the doctor's daughter in the near future as she has not been exposed to the vortex but was made from his DNA....River and the doctor's daughter ....what a conbo.
I think they will do more , much more with this idea in the future.
Later,
Mobius

What about a storyline where the Nazis capture or make their own TARDIS! LOL.

Thoughts on "Night Terrors"? I thought is was a bit drawn out with no suspense really. Also it might be that I watch it on my PC but the sound was really messed up on this one. The music track was a lot louder than the voice track through most of the episode.

Though I am really looking forward to the next episode, "The Girl Who Waited".

I can't wait until "Silence in the Library" gets its payoff. I wouldn't mind waiting for the All the Rest of the Living Doctors ep for it, either.

How genius was it for them to postulate an enemy you forget when you look away? That whole ep is filled with stuff we obviously don't remember because we looked away. It's like DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations" with extra time travel awesomeness.

I thought "Night Terrors" was one of the weakest episodes so far - not to say it was bad, just a little lack-luster compared to what we have been getting the past three episodes.
It's good to take a side course from the main story arc and I encourage it, but this episode did seem to drag with little satisfaction in the end.

At least it wasn't as bad as Fear Her. What I think it was is that the author went for something on the level of Silent Hill creepy and achieved it but the production team realized that it was far, far too scary for broadcast under the DW title so they toned it down some. It still had some really good points to it but they have done better.
