The Doctor keeps drilling the fact that if you hold on to the memory of someone, they don't die. Amy's whole life seems to be dedicated to remembering the Doctor. River seems to have been incarcerated by the monks for killing a great man. What if Amy has been set up to bring the Doctor back.

In the words of Keanu Reeves: Woah!

Dude!

I think you have something there.

Not sure if this has been touched upon yet but what destroyed the Cyberguard? And how come River picked up recent energy weapons fire?

No clue on what River was picking up, but based upon what was stated in the episode.
Doctor: "This one here was a sentry, probably got himself duffed up by the locals... never underestimate a celt!"

What an amazing episode - I was transfixed to the screen!

The Orient Express in space....with an ancient Egyptian onboard? Roll on Christmas!

bloody hell. best ever doctor who season finale.

thank you mr moffat. way better than anything thus seen, all the little moments from the rest of hte series fall together, goodperformances all round.

AND

for once

sufficient time left at the end for a PROPER ending which had time to breath and not just rush at breakneck speed.

karen gillan - gorgeous

and now we have a doctor with 2 companions who aren't shrinking violets and are quite rounded characters.

Agreed, and feisty, too. I also foresee a bright career for young Caitlin Blackwood (young Amelia)
and now we have a doctor with 2 companions who aren't shrinking violets and are quite rounded characters.

Considering that Amy and Rory could now be considered 2000 years older (although Amy was in suspended animation while Rory was a lone sentry), that Amy has had the universe pouring out of that crack into her subconscious and that both have died and come back (twice in Rory's case) I think 'quite rounded' is an understatement.

I really liked the episode and loved the setup for Xmas/next season. And the "Fez's are cool" scene was excellent. However, now that the season's over, I've gotta say I didn't like it as much as the Davies seasons. I actually liked the pacing in those, it's one of the things I thought was so impressive about the character of the Doctor. But then, I'm also a huge Next Gen fan.

So basically, it was another good season, but I think it'll have to rank 5th of 5 in my book. But if you count last years specials as a separate season, this one beats it. Waters of Mars was fantastic, but the rest were worthless.

Speaking of books, we finally got to see the inside of River's diary, yay! I'm going to review that part of the episode and see if I can't figure out the exact way it's bound.

Of course, the one big plot hole in this episode; How did the Doctor get out of the Pandorica in the first place to be able to go back intime to Rory and give him the screwdriver?

Also, Rory and Amy are now back to there normal age, as the time line shifted. So, The Doctor never did turn up in Amy's garden there never were any cracks and Amy never travelled with the Doctor... except that it all happend. xD

I think there's enough evidence in the series so far to support that both of your plot holes don't matter. Paradox's can rewrite time.

In that case, the Master never needed the paradox machine in series 3. :p

I also like how there turns out to have been two story arcs through the series, and one carries into the next, whereas with the RTD Era, the beginning of the series was pretty much a reset and onto a completely new arc.

A great episode. Makes me want to watch the Silence in the Library again.

I love how they tied all the other little parts of the earlier episodes together and how most were almost correct in their assumptions of when the Doctor was popping back in time.

Still not a fan of the new Daleks but if the Dalek was truly asking for mercy from River Song then that makes me wonder what they are going to do with her character.

Dug it! Really tied up the Pond arc well.
Lone Centurion stuff was awesome.
Dalek feared River more than it fears the Doctor. That is very interesting.
Awesome bustout season. I expect they will eclipse it.
Long wait till Christmas.

I loved the ending. While I like the RTD series more, his endings always seemed cheap. Too much deus ex machina. This series really came together for me in the ending. Part and parcel I wasn't the biggest fan, but altogether it's up there high.

One thing: plastic Rory wasn't Rory, but a construct created from Amy's memories. So why, when the Doctor showed up at the wedding, did Rory start telling those around him in the background about being plastic?
