New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

Anyways, I can't wait for next week. Does anybody know yet if it's an extra long episode, or just a regular 45 minutes?

55 Minutes :D

I loved it. The Cyber head part freaked me out. Can NOT wait for next week. I still have no idea how it's going to go down.

They did release the ending on the net, I read about a line before I stoped, I cannot spoil this for myself, its just to freaking good!

Holy hell.

I did NOT expect that ending. Finally a story worth showing this season. Too bad had to wade through a dozen to get to it. Looking forward to the ending, and they BETTER bring Amy back because there are never enough hot redheads!!!!

I'm not a fan of Amy, I don't think they've made her as good a character as some of the other recent companions.

I also really hope River's dead, because otherwise we're gonna get stuck listening to her on and off for the next few seasons and watching her get older while pretending to be younger.

Except I don't think she can be dead because historically for her this takes place before any of her other adventures with the Doctor we've seen. We've already seen her post Pandorica twice. Therefore the paradox would be huge. Of course given what else is going on, maybe those paradoxes wouldn't count.

My question is
Who'se voice was that in the TARDIS? Omega?
It almost seems as if it HAS to be. It sounds just like he did in The Three Doctors.

They've made a pretty big deal this season of saying how things could change, nothing is set in stone. Otherwise there wouldn't be any suspense. For example, when Rory died he was no longer standing next to Amy on the hill in the distance.

Not sure that prop needs spoiler code, as it was seen in the trailer last week, but...

River's gun looks like a repaint of the "toy" guns from Gridlock, that the hijackers used to kidnap Martha.

Concept art of the Gridlock guns:

They're definitely inspired by the Nerf Nite-Finder, that's for sure. I can't determine if they're based off of one, or just a very close sculpt. For example, here's a modded nite-finder that's had the bottom bracket thing for holding the darts removed:

Compare that with River holding the gun and it looks like the underside of the trigger guard is spot-on. The overall shape of the handle is close, but the end cap, grip ridges and oval opening for the trigger are all different on the Gridlock/River gun. But they're definitely not the Maverick, which looks like this:

My running hypothesis has been that the BBC prop department got the concept art inspired by the Nite-Finder and either didn't realize it was based on a toy or couldn't get access to a real one, so they sculpted a whole new body from the art. It's the only way I can think to explain how close-but-no-cigar the handle and trigger are. Unless they realy bought a Nite-Finder then resculpted the battery cap, handgrip and trigger opening.

The photo of the gun you posted isn't the correct Nerf gun. I've seen the more accurate one at Wal-Mart and Target last year sometime.

Here it is:

Great episode!!!!
I think they are taking some tips from Torchwood though doing the sort of kill everyone and entomb the hero angle. :lol

I am pretty sure the gun is this one. I think you can still sort of see where the screw holes on the square part under the barrel where puttied over.

I know. Coz said it looked like a Nerf Maverick to him, which it isn't. Hence why I posted the photo for comparison. The one in the webcam photo is a Nite-Finder, though.

That said, the handle doesn't quite match the Nite-Finder, either, so I don't know what to make of it.

So, it was said that only the Doctor can fly the Tardis. So who controlling the Tardis when River was on board?

They're just wrong, there's much they still don't know about the Doctor and the TARDIS. River has and can, Romana certainly could. I think Captain Jack was flying it as well. Hell, even Teegan and Nyssa did a long time ago I think, though not very well.

Define flying the Tardis. Amy was trying to land it the episode before this one..

I really, really, really hope they don't kill off Amy Pond as a companion. I am too in love with her. :lol

If the crack is sealed in the end I think she will just go back to where the season started. I bet the Doctor stops back and says goodbye to her as a little girl in the end (the scene in the first episode where the Tardis seems to be arriving when she is still a little girl waiting for the Doctor to come back).

I can not wait until next week :cry:cry

You know if you think about it the Doctor is flying the Tardis just the wrong one (Dr Song).

Do you think
that the Tardis was being flown using some kind of Tardis replica like the one seen in the upstairs flat in the Lodger? Will we find out who built that one?

I doubt it.. I'm still banking on timelord influence from outside and praying for it to be Omega.

Did I miss something or do we still not know why Amy had never encountered the Daleks?

I mean, we know the crack has thrown things out of whack, but something is obviously wrong regarding Amy specifically - the Doctor's question in the last ep asking her if she ever wondered why nothing about her life made sense seems to be suggesting she i somehow at the center of everything.

Could this whole season be taking place in the computer in the Library?? :confused It sort of has that feel to it. Not to mention that is where River Song was the last time we saw her. :lol
