New BMF coming

On the lighting front.......Im going total Griswald with lights for this. Im planing on cutting holes behind the docking ports to have battery access. Once everything is sealed up I can just pop off a docking ring and swap out the battery. A blown water line to the house cut short my play day:(

Im also thinking about using a big piece of the wifes Tupperware for the main engine light diffuser. She will never know.......

Dude that movie is 25 years old now! Only old guys like us are gonna get that reference! ;)

I found something thats sticks to this thing like a magnet.........The supplied stickers!!!!!! Seriously, they are a bear to get off.

I have the 'headlights' in place and wired. I used 4 projector LED's. I want this thing to look like a 72 Buick coming down the road. I have the main engine lights semi in place. I have a cut out for the secondary wiring battery in place. Im using hot glue to keep the wires in place on the bottom hull. I fact Im trying to keep all the wiring, lights on the lower hull so I can open her up to add ???? tomorrow will be adding the Legacy falcon electronics and finish the wiring / light box for the engine.

Electronics are not my strong point.....but I 'found' a box of 'as seen on TV' led drawer lights (box of ten). They are getting used. I 'found' a rubbermaid opaque container that will be the main engine light diffuser. Basically if its in the house, and wont be immediately noticed....its being donated to the cause. Oh flat black paint on the inside works well enough for light blocking purposes. I even lucked out an found a package of resisters for the leds. Im going for a LED record on 1 9v battery. I think 20 will do.

Can you show pics Lear60man, I still don't know how I'm going to do the lights, also is the hot glue sticking to the polypropylene ?

I'd be looking at 1/48 scale armour for donor kits rather than the usual 1/35 scale.

Actually the BMF is so close to the 32" that 1/35 scale kits are not far off at all, for instance I have the 1/35 Flak 38 and also the Jagpanzer and the parts used on the Falcon fit nicely onto the new BMF.

Also the Tamiya 1/35 Matilda Mk II is a lot closer for fitting than the 1/48 kit, the parts are a little bit oversized but they're nearer than the 1/48 kits I think.

By and large a combo of both those scales, and whatever else you can find is going to be good enough, after all, we've seen modellers now who've made some pretty dang accurate looking sidewalls using nothing but styrene and LEGO!!

Are you talking about the 31in BMF from the Legacy Collection, HH, or the newer 28in HSMF (Hero Series Millennium Falcon). I have the BMF and have been slowly acquiring the original 1/35 scale donor kits/parts for it for my near SS version. However, for my HSMF I might get a 1/48 Matilda to compare against the 1/35 version just to see how it matches up.

Ill take some pics today. The hot glue sticks enough to hold down the wires while im doing the wiring. I might get some gorilla glue tape as well.

2 weeks and I'm in the US... gonna go on a hunt.

Stoked for the resin casts of 3D prints... this will be my first attempt at Modeling since destroying a Space Shuttle model 25 years ago.

I don't have the Legacy Falcon so yea I was talking about the new 28 incher....I reckon there's not going to be a lot of general consensus on this new Falcon, it's just gonna be do what you think looks best

It done! (Yea Right)

I have it on 5 separate battery packs with their own On/off switch. It also has the Legacy Falcon electronics so it has the movie sounds an engine sounds etc. I havent done anything to the cockpit but the lights are just behind the bulkhead so I can pop off the coclpit and the lights are there.

On the above shot you can see the switches and sound buttons. Its a toy not a Studio Scale model, I wanted the engine sounds and Wookie Darn it! Besides, If i ever decide to go a full landing gear down on a mirror base, Ill have hoses hooked up to the big sound buttons connected to ground equipment.

I have a couple of spots where light is bleeding through. Not surprising as the headlights light up the wall 4 feet away. I put nav lights cause All things that fly should have nav lights. The circuits are as follows: Engine lights, upper lights, Lower lights, head lights and the Legacy Electronics. I had to shave down the foam biscuit a little but it all fits. The engine light and Legacy Electronic battery packs are internal. The other Three can be accessed by pulling off the docking rings.

This is the internal mess. Im actually surprised I didnt have any blow ups or smoke. The nav lights blink. I know not cannon but its my little BMF. Gonna get the side panels, block some light and do touch up paint on two panels.

Looks great man. with all the greeblies in the sidewalls and access pits you could probably hide switches in there pretty easy. At least that is what I plan to do anyway.

Thanks guys. I had a rethink on the support structure in the middle of the night. Instead of the expanding foam, use a couple of pieces of cushion foam around the ends of the 'H'. That way it will have good tension and less mess, clean up.

On the final paint, I will paint the rocker switches to match the hull. The switches and Legacy sound buttons are not that big of a deal as it going to sit on the stand 99% of its life. The hard part was not going full Grisswald on the upper lights and timing the pictures to capture the Nav lights when they were blinking 'on'.

I need to think about how I want to handle the missing sidewall details.
