New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

My sonic lights up green as soon as I plug it in. "Powercell regenerated" message plays, and as long as it's plugged in it will work.
I left it on the charger overnight, to see if it had any effect. Unfortunately not. I have notified TWC about my problem.

I just received word from TWC. They are going to send me a replacement, after doing something that's going to break my heart.

-Unfortunately, because the battery can't be replaced, this is an issue that I am unable to fix, so to save you the hassle of you pointlessly returning it and me the cost of reimbursing you for the cost of doing that, but also to avoid the faulty sonic finding its way to someone else's hands and thus the possibility of me having to replace it a second time, please could you break the emitter head end off the sonic and send me a picture of it broken in half and then discard it.-

That is not uncommon when replacing faulty replicas that the company feels can't be fixed. Just be happy that TWC has great customer support and does not make you deal with whoever you bought the sonic from.

It was incredibly difficult for me to break the sonic in half. Not physically, but mentally.
Damaging this beautifully crafted repli..eh..remote, was just wrong.
It actually snapped in half very easy, and then I cut the wires.

Well, they can't have people making up stories about their sonics being broken to get a second for free ;-/ but it would be a shame not to salvage it to make this prop:

Checking my mail, I noticed I received a shipping confirmation from TWC. From Richard B. himself!
An email from the founder of the company!
What other company would do that?
Hands down the best customer service I've EVER had to deal with.
No fuss, no questions, just send a picture of broken device and adress, and done!

It's something that huge corporations, like the fruit related electronics company , could learn from!

When I reassembled my sonic after breaking it in half, I checked out the battery, and it is indeed dead.
I noticed there is a number ptinted on the battery besides the voltage. It says 300830.
I googled the number an found this battery:
http://dtbattery.sell.everychina.co...-narrow-lipo-battery-3-7v-40mah-pd300830.html
The dimensions are the same. The only drawback is the MOQ, it's 1000pc.

How easy was it to disassemble? I bought mine on eBay and after the seller dicked around for a week after I reported a dead battery, I decided to cut my losses and ask for a few bucks off, intending to use it as a display piece only. But now I'm thinking I could replace the battery (TWC won't cover this).

It's not difficult, just have to be careful not to break the tabs.

Could you link to the battery you found? I searched aliexpress (they're getting more and more of my money lately!) and couldn't find a battery that mentioned both the mAH and the size.

I just now thought of checking if the battery is actually getting power from the USB.
And it does!! So I know for certain it's the battery that has failed.
All I now have to do is wait for the new battery to arrive to see if I can bring the sonic back to life....

Hello to all.
I`ve made translation of manual for 11th version in last year, and now decide to make other one for 10th version, but nfortunatelly theres no more full scan (like it was year ago) of manual on official site :( I1ve got original manual but it will be pretty tricky to erase originsl text from scan, so maybe someone still have old pdf file for 10th version (with both sides of manual)?

Hey guys!
a little update on the battery.
the replacement arrived today, and it's too big!
the original must be a modified 300830.
I will try to modify the sonic and make it fit. That does mean I won't be aboe to do a simple tutorial.

Hello again,
I read about your "power" problem, mine was solved by using E-Flite LiPo 3.7V 1S 25C 30mAh (Ultra Micro) battery, it fits almost perfect exept extending became little tighter (in my case its even better because it became loose).

You just need to carefully detach (actually just break it) black plastic contacts cover and cut connecter. To be sure i also solder little plate from original battery (it was under yellow duct tape as i remember). Hope that will help.

Is there a way to take off the emitter bulb head? I'd like to know as I want to sand it down and make it flatter to more ressemble the one in the show (TWC dome was always a bit too rounded for my liking)
