New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

Richard at TWC told me that they have some non Who stuff that they want to do as well. Since they are a small company, they can only get one item out a year. The tail end does look a bit too thick, but that I assume that is for the charge plug. Should be the easiest thing to lathe if needed.

I just got home from Comic Con and the first place I went to was the Think Geek booth and I talked directly to Chris from the Wand Company. I saw the sonic prototype firsthand I'm not 100% sure if it is a perfect screen accurate repilca, but it looked and sounds damn good. The guy's at the Wand Company activly read this thread and are aware of the all our thoughts. One thing tat Chris told me was the crackle on the grip is to be etched into the body so there will be no real major difference between each sonic.

Now since I have been home from the con I have been through a few hundred reference screen captures I have taken, and I stand by my comment above. It's damn good. Real damn good. Besides 100 bucks for in my opinion the best sonic prop I have seen, I'm buying at least two.

Well I am so looking forward to this! I have my screen accurate MFX sonic that I am pleased with. (Though I'm not convinced the color is correct) But this is the one to carry around wth me in my pocket. I am still amazed how they can get a machined sonic for $100.00 and no one else has been able to do it.

There will always be a market for the other high end ones, but TWC just satisfied the masses with this one!

Pics From The Con!
I'm still very tired, so I'll do this quick

Details
The acrylic rod is a little uneven, but this is expected to be fixed in the production model. There are three wires running through the middle, but they are shrink-wrapped in yellow shrink-wrap. These are the prototypes painted by Robatto, this is not the abs plastic.
There is a little dint at the center bottom of the end bulb, as it is cast. Sliding function is smooth, but there is a little resistance. The sonic can stay in extended position and just sit as you can see in one of the photos. the magnet is only in one specific spot in the stand. The magnetic connection is very strong once correctly connected. The end bulb is secure, and it takes a bit to slide it off, but, it won't simply fall off like the replaceable ends of the CO sonic. Also, the stand is cast in zinc. :p Whew!

Hope u guys like! :D

It's pretty clear they made the butt fatter to accommodate the USB port, but other than that... This is the greatest thing in the history of things.

Wow, seeing it next to the MFX sonic, and knowing that it was scanned from DT's sonic.......

It seems that everything they said about the MFX may be true.....

And I could have bought 5 of these for the price of that one......

keep in mind that the MFX was referenced earlier than the TWC sonic was. However, it is still very inaccurate...

I just cannot wait. This is gonna be the sort of thing you'll whip out in public and baffle strangers with. Do we know if the FX is gonna be purely button based or if it will be gesture based too? As one fault for the 11th was the sensitive nature of the gesture controls. It would be excellent to be able to wave it about without setting it off. Or maybe the different gestures can set what effect the button will make rather than make the sounds themselves. I have faith in the wand company!

It's gesture based in remote mode and button activated only in FX mode. The FX mode essentially behaves just like the prop did plus sound, but throw in a bunch of other features to boot.

From what Chris demonstrated for me FX mode is all used when the button is pushed. To be completely honest I didn't see all the FX mode sounds, but the ones I saw were all used when the emitter was extended and the button pushed down. Please someone else chime in, I admit that I didn't see every FX gesture but I think they all use the button.

Risu, you mentioned a sonar type setting, could you elaborate on that because the way I imagine it, that's going to be great to screw around with. I'll be running down halls with the sonar going, like the doctor tracking cybermen in the army of ghosts/doomsday episodes
