New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

Looks like the one in the picture being 3D scanned to me. Not surprised as each of the filming props were hand made, so differences would be there.

It's not I'm afraid. The changes are from the scanned sonic DT owns, strangely modified and now looks a little like the B prop, which they didn't scan - as far as we know- only DT's, which was the C prop. If they have scanned or copied more than one sonic from various sources they may be going for standardised look picking features from each prop. Either way it's no longer a straight copy of Tennant Sonic anymore. The bottom silver section looks a bit thicker, but that maybe to cram in all the gubbins needed for it to work.

Pictures of it on display would be good, but as we know even those versions maybe changed before it hits the shops. Remember the change the MFX one went through from stand to hand?

:facepalm It was only a matter of time.

You asked, I told you! So slap your face as much as you like Sir! As I said I like some of the mods on this (no screws, silver slider plug) but hope they don't over tweak it before it gets to the shops. Its a great price.

Checked it out at the con today, holy ****ing crap this thing is amazing. Before I get into that, their factory couldn't manufacture the molded handle in time for the con, so the crackle on that handle is painted by Nick Robatto. That's the only change they'll be making between the one currently pictured and the final product.

So basically this thing is a beautiful, somewhat idealized version of the prop, physically speaking. There are a couple tweaks to fit the electronics for the remote, but it's mostly intact. Now here's the awesome part: FX mode. It functions exactly as it should. Push the button, light and sound. BUT it also has a ton of other functions including multiple different sonic sounds and a proximity sensor type sonar beep setting, which is pretty awesome to see. Hands down the best Who merch ever released.

Glad to hear ALL of this! :D But yet still no pictures? ;)

HERE ARE SOME PICS!!! :D I went onto the doctor who tumblr and they posted some pics. They are from further away, but I like that because you can see kind of how real it looks like from afar. UGH SO EXCITED!!!
Doctor Who Official on Tumblr - People were asking for photos of the new Tenth...

I don't see one line of proof in this comment, other than the changes they have already posted on their website. Are you arguing that they have made changes that they have already said they have said that they did on their website? Or will this turn into another "This Tennant sonic sucks...thread"?

@ Risu in regards to the FX mode features: to quote a youtube comment I once read "This post just made me have babies"

First of all I am not arguing about changes nor have I said, or even hinted that this Sonic sucks, so please don't get hot under the collar just re- read what I said. Once you have done that I will state again that there have been changes made from the picture they have scanned and the one in the pictures they have published and mentioned. And that's fine. Differences? Well, blow the pictures up of each one and look closely where I have previously stated. Its there to see.

My concern is that it is tweaked too much and I am hoping that what is finally produced for distribution is what has been shown in the recent pictures. As previously stated, if I am to buy I will wait to see it in the flesh as I was stung once before (as we all were) with the MFX version.*

Once again, and I will repeat, I do not mind idealised props compared to screen accurate when there are improvements. Amongst my collection I have a version of this prop with no ugly screws and a crackle coat that really does look like cracked porcelain. IMO *I think looks better than the TV prop and other SA I have but it does not detract from what it is representing.

The100% screen accurate junkies will, and have gone elsewhere. But *for a back-up, TV remote or cheaper alternate to carry about *others will buy this excellent valued version from the Wand Company. *Oh and nice box! :)*

I've got a 9th (from he who can't be named) and my 11th is the universal remote, which looks great displayed. If they keep it at 1:1 scale I think it's a pretty damn good deal considering the price point. I'll probably pick one up to fill the 10th space in my collection. :thumbsup

I wonder if the classic sonic will be the next version to be tackled? That surely would be as cheap as chips price-wise? ;)

You would think so. And loads of space compared to the 10. :thumbsup

I probably wouldn't get one though. I'm happy with my current replicas and they aren't that pricey compared to the cost of replicas of the new sonics.

Honestly, and I say this having looked at both in hand, the quality of machining on the wand sonic is better. Especially the teeth. They actually fit together. Nobody's done that as well in the past.

Personally I'm just glad I will have something to troop with other than my Repainted MFX. I was crapping bricks every time I took the thing out to pose with it At this past AX.

I'm sorry it happened, I just wanted to tell everybody how awesome the new sonic is. But the thread title has sonic in it, and the last few minions haven't been banned yet, so it was bound to happen.
