New 10th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Universal Remote

I SWEAR...I got ANOTHER DW related e-mail from ThinkGeek!!!

This time, it's a 'LET'S BE THE DOCTOR FOR HALLOWEEN'.

(y)lol

I believe they have a rep spying on here just to mess with me.:facepalm

You know, that idea with the black end cap was actually a good move i think. Is there any correct line-up indent on the end to show the correct position?

Yes, there's a groove around the aluminium tail part, which the black end cap snaps pretty firmly onto.

Im loving how the crackle effect looks under that kind of lighting, at one point it had that original grey, and then under soft lighting it resembled the fabled smoker's teeth yellow. The bulb is like the perfect mix of an accurate prop and mfx's matte texture.

I have to correct my previous post , where I commented, saying there was no light to sound effects, well I found one ! , in FX mode moving the remote up and back causes a Beep , Beep ( on , off) with corresponding light flash , that seems to be the only one so far. Am still experimenting !!.

Sorry, but I have light flashes to FX with all the scanning flicker sounds, plus sonar. Includes sea devils mine sweep, Lazarus scan, etc.

Forbiddenplanet changed their release date to the 25th. What happened to the 18th release date? Which is more accurate?

I would always assume that the retailers would have a better understanding of their release schedules than the main company. Richard's a great guy, and has gone to great lengths to try to answer questions about specific companies, but he can't be privy to every slight issue that might be occurring with the retailers that could lead them to move back a release date, or internal company policies dictating how they set those dates. So, I would go with the retailer's date of the 25th. Because even if they get them on the 18th, they might need time to enter them into inventory, stock them, update the listing, get the preorder list in order, and begin packing things up for shipping. (Plus don't forget the weekend)

...then if it ships earlier, it'll be a pleasant surprise!

I received my Sonic today. Safe to say, I LOVE this thing. The best so far has been seeing my sisters face as I turned off the tv with the Sonic. Jaw drop.

Yes, the blue light should flash in time with the sound effects for each of the four tap gestures. (We wanted to make the blue light flicker during the "broken sonic" sound too but, as mentioned before, there wasn't enough code space in the main microcontroller to include all of the features that we wanted to, so that was one thing that didn't make the cut.)

Any sort of important updates for the Americans Richard?

I'm afraid our factory's production is still running at a slower rate than we were anticipating. We've been talking with them over the last few days about options for increasing the production rate, but they are worried about compromising the product quality, which is something that we're not willing to take a risk on. Unfortunately this means that the release date is being pushed back into next week, for the UK, the USA and Australia. The stock should be arriving mid-week with all of our retailers, but all of TheNickFox's points are absolutely correct - I really can't say what that will mean in terms of deliveries to customers.

I'm sorry about the delay and the inevitable frustration and disappointment that this will cause. In the meantime, we are delivering another small quantity of stock to the three retailers in the UK (Firebox, Forbidden Planet and BBC Shop) tomorrow - they've all been continuing to receive pre-orders so this new stock still won't be enough to fulfil all of them, but it will mean that some more of you should receive your sonics very soon.

You're doing the best you can, mate. Us here in the US will just have to be patient. Keep up the amazing work!
