Need Plexiglass help

Hi everyone,
So I hope you guys can help me out a bit,
Im looking to make a prop for a friend (The sword from transistor http://download.gamezone.com/uploads/image/data/1142184/transistor.jpg )

But they only have a clear piece to work with (no color)
And im wondering if you guys have a way to tint the plexiglass a slight teal color, i have heard of the polyurethane method but i cant seem to find a good tutorial anywhere

I'd say some form of sharpie pen that you would colour it in, or the kind of tinted acetate that you sometimes find on sweet wrappers?

Can you not coat the plexiglass in a tinted gel sheet (like they use for stage lighting)? http://www.stage-electrics.co.uk/sh...ure-colour/product.aspx?code=510-5359&nr=true

From what I see, it looks like the blade is quite thick. I have a question do you plan to light the blade up? If so you could use the lighting to tint the Plexiglas. Also It might look better if you layer the graphics on different layers of the Plexiglas. To make it seamless use IPS Weld-on # 4 Solvent Plexiglass Acrylic Glue.

Dyeing the plexiglass would be a good choice. Use iDye Poly in boiling water, then dip part of the piece until you've got the desired hue. You can get a large metal tub of some sort like Cosplay4UsAll did to pour the boiling water and dye into before dipping since it's a large piece.
