I bought a second one within 5 minutes of the announcement. And they're now sold out!
As far as I know, thinkgeek was one of the last retailers provided with a supply from what I know. They have probably been the best deal too with the no tax and free shipping (at least the tax part to CA). I know Neca had sold only 50 pieces on their site at a midnight release which they may do again, but the rest would be stocked in specific stores. Its going to be tough getting one, I had no idea it'd sell out so quickly on thinkgeek even after limiting sales 1 per order.

Managed to get one in my cart last night, only for it to disappear when I went to check out. Bummer.

I received mine on Friday, from Amazon. For the money, it's a bargain and very cool, although really not comparable to high quality custom builds in terms of materials, construction, or electronics.
All plastic and acrylic; no major metal components. Manufacture quality looks good; there are traces of scuffing on the clear acrylic cylinder (which could be clearer, as well), but other than that, I don't see any blemishes. Blue and orange illumination controlled by a concealed thumb switch on the handle. (The orange is a bit yellower than I'd prefer, although not as much as in these pics which I white-balanced pretty heavily.) Different (loud) firing sounds for blue and orange portals. Emitter detail is not nearly as complex as it might be, and it's constantly illuminated; no brighter flash with trigger pull.
All in all, quite happy with the piece, for a commercial item, at this price point.
I'm also glad I've got a custom one in the works as well, though!
