Narcissus Builders Club N Stuff.

Just need to I'd the little parts top and bottom of the VT part.

The two bits on the underside are reasonably straightforward - more TIE cut down, but I can't remember if I ever discovered what was on the top or not....
Have to go back and check!

Cool.... It's the waste from the other bits that sit on the end of the 8rad chassis on the top. Glad I hung onto all the trimmed pieces.

Wow that's a great find!!!
What sucks for me is that I have several VaderTIEs and an R2 in storage, but I'm going to have to buy more for this as I can't get to the ones I have :)

Ok, Martyn, was it just the two missing pieces and the hole not cut? If so it's now sorted. Do you want me to get those cut? I'm cutting one more to build around the Aluminium armature and if all goes well with that we can ship them out soon. Pretty sure we have most of the kit parts now. Just need to lay it all out again and check them off. There's a few in the underside well we need but I may already have them so going over the sprues again. I have seen Lees Decals and they are fantastic folks. They have options too but Lee can explain those when he's ready. Almost there thank ****!

Simon, it was the two missing pieces, the hole, and missing slots in each of the trim pieces around the edges of the ship. I haven't cut the replacement bits yet but it's a five minute job.

My buildup is mostly done but I'm having some issues with the rear quarter panels - I did mark up centres and square up the main assemblies so I shouldn't have a 1/8" gap but I do in one case. Needs to be investigated, almost certainly IS a cockup I've made. I'll sort it out and press on. Glad I did this before casting the engines though as I also did find an issue that needs a small tweak on the lower engines.

Can't wait to see the decals!

OTOH the upper ones are really fitting up DEAD NICE, lol.

Gurrrrr, still so much sanding to do tho...

Those engines look awesome Martyn!.
I don't think you could have hoped for a better fit. Great job mate :thumbsup

Looks like the rest of the build is progressing nicely too :).
It's nice to finally see another copy being built (and yep, the sanding takes a while!!).

Did you encounter any issues with expansion of the armature in the hot weather?

It looks like you still have the protective layer on? Did you confirm if the windows were OK?

AWESOME! Looking over Lee's decal file this morning - everything looks so damn NICE. This really is a benchmark project for the RPF.

Cheers guys. Paul, the sanding on the acrylic will be a breeze...it's sanding the nylon printed parts that's sheer bloody murder! :lol That's not primer on them, it's high-build auto spray filler. About the eighth coat. Those pics are from the weekend BTW, I've got on a bit further since.

Nope, the armature's done no harm so far. Yep, protective layer still needed, I be clumsy. I've removed it for inner faces of course - so far none of the tool marks have really gouged any of the sheets, it seems to only just have brushed the film. Haven't yet checked the windows - I'll do it after I fit and glue up the upper panels.

Simon, the panel lines are already there, believe it or not. Only one out of the what, seven or so, actually came out clearly, but all were represented to some degree. Anyway, yeah, I'll be rescribing them, absolutely. They need some Evergreen strip detail too.

Ahhh OK! :lol I did notice when I modified those prototype lower engines you gave me that it was pretty tough stuff!

Yup, not wrong. I gotta sand a fillet into the bottom edges of the upper engines, too - must get onto that, will need to use power tools methinks.

Hey guys, should mention there was one other part that should have two pieces, but only one was cut - TP6, the floor of the cutout in the rear quarter panels. I made one up from scrap.

Edit; sanded first engine fillet, easier than expected, good results.

Should have the main structure ready for signoff within a couple of days.

hey guys,i dropped into martyns yesterday and got a sneak preview of the narc.......
totally awsome !! great size, the shape and proportions are spot on.engines look beautiful.
keep up the great work. :thumbsup

Cheers, Rod! Was a good yak.

I just finished up the last main structural stuff at last, for a fast build I really slowed down at the end there. Started sanding and putty today. I have a couple more small mods to do and Simon's bringing a recut version of the mis-cut sheet later this week, since I stuffed up the T5 pieces trying to manually score and snap them out of the sheet like a noob. I've GOT a perfectly good Dremel, arrrgh! (Easy to score and snap 3mm acrylic, but not when it has a transverse .75mm channel cut into it.)

I've fitted up a few of the plating pieces roughly - only two or three, but they seem okay so far.

There are a couple of gaps and mismatches that I've managed to build in here and there, and I needed to trim both the rear lower quarter panels slighty. These are all small and easily-fixed issues which are down to me. And I'm kinda chuffed from that - you can throw this thing together with barely any care and still get an acceptable result. The gaps are small enough that I'm feeling no shame in just puttying them.

I'm not gonna call it idiot-proof, I've already broken a couple of pieces after all. :lol But it's the next best thing - if you build around the armature then it squares itself, pretty much. Paul, I'll email you some detailed stuff tomorrow, but I'm happy to sign off on the CNC files.

And that is why I'm waiting for the armature before I start slapping glue to acrylic! Sounds awesome though. You sound as "exacting" as I am, hehe.

:lol

But yeah, it's a model, not an actual aerospace project. The major inaccuracy it will suffer from is not being as wonky as the original. :lol
