Narcissus Builders Club N Stuff.

Sounds good Simon! This is one of the holy grail movie models for me and you guys have done an outstanding job replicating it!!!

I'll probably pay in two halves if that's ok. The files and acrylic/styrene first, then the armature and resin bits second. Sound good?

No worries Scott. We should be able to ship the acrylic, styrene and armature out in the next few weeks. It's the resin stuff that takes the longest.

Hey all,
Trying to figure out a piece on the Narc, it could be two pieces. Have all the other pices around this one figure out, but not this bit. The total length would be under an inch and it's surrounded by 8Rad pieces.

Anyone spot it?

Lee,

I'm assuming you have the Airfix Esso Wagon there for other parts on the Narcissus?
It's worth having another look through that kit :)

Keith

Correct Keith. Lee the other pic you sent me is correct. It is made up of two parts . One being the 8rad box and the other two pronged piece I have here somewhere. The same 8 rad piece Is used on another two piece part also. Just trying to find the second one and we are almost there. Still trying to find that elusive cylinder part for the interior...

Ahhh there is it! I KNEW I'd seen it before :)
Even though I go through the donor boxes all the time I'm still surprised!
Thanks, L

And now I see it's the whole piece with another little trimmed piece from the ESSO on top. Great stuff!

Great stuff guys. Hey I basically wrapped up the new lower engines last night. Will post a render tonight but I have a couple of questions for the peeps.

Are there two vertical panel lines on the sides of the main lower engine body, or just one? There's one in *every* pic, but some pics show a second line further forward. Maybe a pencil line, or added late?

Secondly, if that line exists is it the one across the very front of the engine - right at the point where it's 'cut off' on that angle to form the seat for the Leichter hull? Or is it separate to that? I just can't decide.

I mean, obviously if it is in any pics then it was on the model at some point, but I can't work out why it would be missing in the blu-ray screencaps, which seems to be the case.

On the other hand, have we discussed any more about how weird those caps are WRT decals? I don't think it's a case of anything falling off the model; I think it could be deliberate intervention. There are very faint pinkish smears where there should be, for example, a large red text placard decal, or a big red arrow.

Did someone on the BR release decide the model was overcooked on the decals front and digitally mess with them?

From what I can see there only ONE line that goes all the way down the side. I've looked at every pic I have and they all show the same as this:
All sizes | Narc_02c | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Even that doesn't appear to show the rear panel line, but others do.

As for decals! I've been staring at them for months! The front and back are very different. The back is mostly based on the full size set and the front a 'regular' miniature. As the fullsize set only had tiny decals, they couldn't/didn't put on on the back. I don't think it's because of the BR or that they were changed after.

Also remember that decals were ADDED during production, look at the shots of the garage door being slid back and then of it being lowered. There's more decals later...

Thanks Fred!! Lee, I put that badly; sorry. I know how hard you've gone at the decals question. In some of those caps I see these pinkish smears where we know red lettering happens at some point...it put me in mind of changes in post, rather than shooting. Faint, though...could be anything, including my imagination. I can't imagine why you'd do it in the BR release, but stranger things have happened. You're far more likely right of course.

These two pics seem to show a second vertical panel line further forward, though, and there are others where you can catch a glimpse of it.

I've only done the one, for now. I've just spent another two evenings on re-dos due to some dumb mistakes. Almost there now.

Oh hey Simon, the three greeblies in the "docking flaps" trapezoidal details on the tails, under the nozzles. Are those kit parts, and any idea what? Could use dims on those if you have them.

Still looking on those mate. On the desk top shots from the starboard view the look like wedges. On portside view they look like kitparts in light grey. Now the vosper was cast in that color back then and it matches the color of that but it's a no go. I'm thinking Schnell boot but I don't have it at hand. You can see the box in several different shots.

OK thanks man. U got one on order? I'll see if I can pick one up otherwise. I've got some conflicting info on the size of the part they sit on, wanna nail it down.

I recieved my plastruct order during the week, which has now let me finish off the tubing and styrene at the rear of the ship.
This pretty much completes work on the prototype now for the acrylic and styrene layouts.
