My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET **FINISHED! see post #207

You know I wouldn't mind seeing some bag at some point. I was talking scoop on the back cap earlier but all painted up in white it looks like just right.

Hmm, odd comment if you take it completely out of context.

Looks great Gino. Was this just your test one? Are you planning several with different weathering?

Thanks guys.
It was the test one in the sense that it was the first one.
I definitely plan on making different versions. Standard background, sandtrooper, and ESB. Maybe a couple different of each. But finding the time to finish them out is difficult.

Send one to me , Ill finish it for you .........:rolleyes

Gino, I just now got a chance to look at the finished helm and all I can think of is WOW! Great job for sure.

fantastic representation.
I really dig the bubbly texture; kinda like there was bondo dirt on the buck just as it was getting vacuumformed back in 1976.

You know, I'm not usually too enamored with TK helmets, but after seeing you go through the effort to work with something like HDPE, and then finishing the helmet to the level of accuracy you are known for with TK helmets, and seeing the bits of HDPE peeking through that finish, well I just have to say that looks pretty darn sweet.

Here are some more pics as a bust.

What do you use for the greeen eyes on the screen accurate style helms ?

Ive never seen the insides of a screen helmet that still has the acetate or whatever ... how do you hold yours in /? (if thats what you use ??) :confused

I think the real ones were just taped in weren't they? Scotch and or masking tape?

Gino, these are sick. I think you got it as close to 100% as anyone is gonna get at this point.

Will you ever revisit the Hero? :confused

Hey Rob, it is green acetate and it is simply secured to the earcap screws on the inside of the helmet (which is how the screen used ANH helmets were).

Thanks Ken and Davy.
Ken, I'm definitely going to revisit the hero. And in a big way.
Actually I'm already halfway finished with it, I just haven't worked on it for a long time.

That looks really great. You've really done it this time.

After reading through this whole thread again, I'm wondering where all the people who didn't think like the way it looked have gone. It seems once you painted it up, they have not had anything to say. :lol
