Looking forward to seeing one of these finished up.
Should have pics of one in the next couple days.

For now, here are pics of a back/cap in the correct color/thickness HDPE.

Thanks.
It really is about time. Was pretty burnt on troopers there for awhile.

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Can't wait to see it finished up.Are you going for any particular on screen helmet? Are you going to chip up the paint?

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

I think any helmet I make from these are going to end up being a specific trooper.
Definitely plan to chip the paint. Otherwise, using the correct color HDPE would be a total waste in my opinion.
And from a couple tests I've seen, there is nothing that better recreates the look of a real screen used trooper helmet than using actual HDPE and chipping the paint.
Not just the paint itself, but in the way the HDPE forms over the mold. It does some weird stuff that you simply cannot recreate any other way with any other material. It was very exciting for me to see.
There are some new discoveries I've made that I plan to reveal over the course of showing these off. Guaranteed to please all the trooper nuts.

Considering the quality of work you have done, I can't wait to see this!

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

It is pretty amazing how the HDPE colour looks so different depending on lighting when photographed.

The pics of the newly found ANH helmet and suit is exactly the same how much it varies from pic to pic.

Could this finally be it... the reason I've held off and held off buying another trooper helmet for nearly five years... :eek

Well of course!! And how you assembled it,its going to be hard than styrene to replicate particular helmet(in form),if i remember and rad correctly,it is quite flexible and quite un-controllable.:wacko

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

I have one of these in HDPE but its not one of gino's and its in grey hdpe. Gino , if you do a run of these i'm in. I have one of Gino's v2 buckets and it is by far the best out there for ANH/ESB . I wan't one Gino.

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Thanks you guys.
Wasn't sure if there would be very many people around who would be excited or interested in seeing helmets built out to this level of accuracy. Some people draw the line at the bumpy back/cap, so I'm glad to see there are still some out there besides me.

Hope to have more pics either later tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

While the modern, pristine plastic versions have that stylized quality, this raw, wonky-ness has a definite extra cool factor to them. :cool:thumbsup

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Awesome, it really doesnt get any better than this, cant wait to see a built up one :love

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Very nice....:thumbsup
Is this HDPE or Polypro? They are very similar chemically.

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Just out of curiosity how did you match the colour? Through photos or did you have a sample of the original to match it to? As Chris said it changes so much in photos depending on the light source.

There's more of us out there than you think. Personally This is my ultimate prop. The correct color hdpe accurate replica is something I never thought we would see. Thank you for doing this.

Cheers,
Ben

Re: My V3 HDPE TROOPER HELMET

Awesome Gino. :)

OF COURSE there are people that want to see that! LOL!

BUT, will it have the bubble in the tear?

(I still want one of your hero buckets :( )
