My Office/Prop Room/Museum......Pics!!!

This is an amazing thread to follow. I commented back on page one already. I didn't see your Vanderstelt print the first time around, that is awesome. I have the same print but it isn't framed and matted. I need to get that done because that looks gorgeous.
I'm envious of your career. It would take me lifetimes to get half of these displays together and finished like this. Your Vader alone is probably worth the things I aquired in the past seven years of collecting. That is just stunning stuff. Your R2 is brilliant. I can't decide which prop I like the most. I think the tiny door should have a hand print recognition lock on it just to make people assume something when they see it, haha. They'll wonder what is in there for sure if they see that. You could also say that it is your garbage shoot to the large trash compactor.
Your props look better than anything they used in the movie Fanboys. You could have pulled off the archives much more realistically.

Hi guys, finished my Red 5.......so tomorrow it goes into the prop room. I've tweaked a few things since these pics were taken, but you get the idea. Thanks so much for the comments! Unlike some people on this board, I do care what other people think of my stuff......whether it's positive or negative criticisms.

Dave :)

Fantastic job on Red 5, Dave! Thanks for sharing the pics.

Your room keeps getting cooler and cooler everytime I see it. :cool I wonder if I could convince my insurance company that it makes sense for my dentist to be located in South Carolina. I don't think a road trip every 6 months is too far out of the question. :p :lol

LOL, yeah hey as long as I'm on your plan, you're in good shape..........they don't care who you go to as long as you're in network!

Dave ;)

Hm.... I wonder if my plan covers internationally....

Now seriously, Dave, I applaud you on both your choices and your commitment to the ultimate accuracy! That Vader is the ultimate Vader in the whole of the RPF, and I´m quite confident saying that :) Congratulations!

Hermes!

Here is my new toy in it's place in the prop room finally!!!

Looks good Dave! I'm in Georgia several times a year and am trying to get a transfer to the Atlanta office approved. If it goes through, I might have to look you up sometime.

Have you considered painting the supports to match the wall color? I wasn't sure if making them blend in with the background would add to the illusion of flight.

Tee.... I actually thought about doing that, but decided that my display theme is all black. Photo frames, display cases, shelves, pedestals........all black. I'll have to stick with that. LFL does the same thing with their props, so I suppose I'm happy enough with it that way. I think like you do however, I was gonna do exactly that, but am glad I didn't after thinking it thru.

Dave :)

Started working on this project today......it will be for my Old Ben costume display...........I decided to make my Vader mannequin a playmate........LOL

What a great passion we share. I love the pictures. Your office/prop room/museum looks wonderful. And I commend your talent.

Thanks man, this is my very first 1:1 bust, so it was more of a teaching tool than a full fledged success. I may end up re-doing it a bit, but I tried several techniques and found some things I like best.

Dave :)

I will continue to live vicariously through your star wars collection Dave as I sell mine off. Its a beautiful combination of great pieces and a high level museum like set up. Keep up the incredible work!

Very nice!

I think I might just pee myself though if I ran into that vader mannequin while walking to the bathroom at night.

LOL, it's funny, when I made my first Vader mannequin, I had no display room and kept the mannequin propped up behind a chair in our home office.........the chair was right in front of the window. For the first two weeks, I'd forget and go into the office at night......no lights on.........but the street below would light up the window............you'd crap yourself because there wasn't supposed to be anyone else in the house if you know what I mean??? LOL

Thanks for the compliments fellas. :)

Dave
