Star Wars has a long history of incredible background alien characters that seem to take on a life of their own. Weteef Cyu-Bee from Rogue One is no exception. A diminutive but fearsome fighter he stood out to me instantly during the skirmish in Jedha City. The character has a unique connection with Star Wars history as well, as he’s played by Warwick Davis. Originally I was planning on just making his “tibanna jacked” modified DH17. But then I had the crazy idea of re-creating the entire costume mask and all. So here we are! I will be documenting progress below.

So far I’ve commissioned a modeler I trust to make the head and hand sculpts (progress posted below). Plan is to then resin print and mold these parts for a rubber or latex mask. The hair will be combo punched and layered. The base will a scaled down 3d printed mannequin. Height of the character is 3’6”. Will be recreating the jump suit. Will be modeling and resin printing his blaster rifle. Luckily I have a contact in the prop painting department at Pinewood who worked on the project so I’ll be able to get details on the paint finish.

Right now I’m trying to track down as much reference as possible and research any possible found parts. If anyone has any details or rarer reference photos please free to share, all info is appreciated. Hopefully you all enjoy following along in the journey!

Okay working theory around the harness he wears is that it’s a British MK1 para-harness, this version I found looks VERY close aside from the buckling around the legs may be different.

Food for thought: the harness could also be an American parachute assembly (MC-1 or T-10) - but its hard to tell, they appear to have cut it down and reassembled it, adding or removing bits of hardware.

I think you’re right it’s not simply one harness, the top buckles on shoulder straps too spot on to reference but the bottom look totally different. Looking at different para harness there’s definitely a few American ones that look similar too.
