My Multipass Build

Do you have the Blu-Ray version of it? That'd be a good starting point. I think my digital copy is 1080p. It aired on HBO HD a few years ago, and this was a capture of that.

For all I know, the BR version is better. Maybe they re-mastered.

Yeah, I ripped my BR copy (Good thing too, because I lost the disk).

I believe it was remastered, but I'm not sure how much better the quality will be because of that. It can't hurt though!

difficult to say that this is not her.

While you're at it, you should make the "Gimme da cash" guy hat. Just get a solid screen grab of it, print it, and you're more than half way done.

Sell them in the junkyard while you're at it.

I wish I could remember the scene where I got my leeloo screen grab from that I used in the pass. I THINK It was at the airport, when they are checking in for the cruise.

There are some really great 'straight on' shots where she is looking at the camera.

Haha, I think I'm going to have to pass on that one...I might end up making the hat for fun, but I'll leave any runs up to you.

Life has been in my way for a long while.

Can't seem to make the time for my hobbies.

Hate to ask this, but, is anyone hire-able to build my multi-pass for me please?

I can't see making time for this for several more months & hate seeing the kit stare at me undone.

Thanks;

Sorry to necropost, but as I'm late to the Moolti-Pass game and just getting started on this kit, I've been researching ways to make it light up.

A couple of thoughts come to mind. First, when using a lithium coin cell, it's actually not necessary to use a series resistor for the LED--the battery itself has enough internal resistance to limit current. This is not the case for flashlight batteries, the use of which would require a resistor.

Also, I think I'm going to try to use a thinner lithium coin cell, such as a CR 2016 or CR2025. The battery's number tells you about it's physical dimensions, with the first two numbers giving the diameter in mm and the last two the thickness in tenths of mm. So, a CR 2032 battery is 20 mm (2 cm) in diameter and 3.2 mm thick. A CR2016 is 20 mm in diameter and 1.6 mm thick.

OK, I'm FINALLY getting a real start on my kit now. Does anybody know where I could find a 2016 battery? Do they carry them anywhere like Wal-Mart, Radioshack, etc? Or would I have to order online?

Also, there are 4 pins on the LED, which ones do I use?

Got mine at the jewelry/watch counter at Wal-mart.

ZK was nice enough to explain the LED connections to me via PM and I found a couple of the 2016's in a light I took apart, so now I'm just trying to overcome a problem with the button being temperamental and I should be able to finish pretty quickly after that. Not looking forward to masking though, I hate that part.

They're also two bucks at Staples...best price I've found at a brick-and-mortar store.

As for the masking, invest in a roll of the blue painters' tape from Home Depot or Lowe's.

Can you post a pic of your switch?

I just got my MMMultipass kit yesterday and was searching for info when I found this thread. Matt, thanks for making such a quality piece of work, and ZK thank you for documenting your process! Very inspiring.

Matt's kits rock. This was one of my first builds on the forum too. My daughter is a HUGE 5th Element fan, and went nuts when I gave it to her :)

Props to thread starter too... nice job!

I've had one of these kits for several months now but haven't worked on it yet. Finally got my Leeloo suspenders and I'm almost done coloring my wig, so it's about time for me to tackle this. It will be my first real build, so I'm a bit intimidated - but this thread should be a big help!
