My Knight Rider KITT car is nearly complete!

Absolutely love the detailing on the interior. Does it have a working 'voice light'? If so, any way to get some video up on here?

Absolutely great! Also would like to see a video how the electronics work. The Voicebox especially.

:thumbsup

I love that you have a satin finish black for the interior. Every replica I've seen uses high gloss black. I don't think high gloss is the best option for an interior unless you drive only at night.

THAt is what makes it look so awesome - great catch! I couldn't figure out why I liked that one so much better than the others I've seen!

BEAUTIFUL car!!!!!!

I too hate a glossy interior. I tried to find a paint that closely matched
the rest of the stock interior. This stuff seemed to look the best.

To answer the question, Yes, the voicebox works when it talks and looks
just as it did on the show. It also has the countdown lights on the top
of the dash as well as down the sides of the voicebox and sounds tones
upon initial start up. You can choose between cruise modes by using the
buttons located under the TVs section. There is the Normal Cruise, Auto
Cruise and Pursuit options. When the car reaches a speed in excess of
60 MPH, the voicebox indicator automaticly swicthes into pursuit mode.

Really cool stuff.

In checking my cameras, I have found that neither digital camera I have
has a video feature, I am hunting around for someone I know that can
take some videos for me so I can post them up. Once I can get some, I'll
be sure to post them up right away for you guys.

Well,

If all goes well, I should have some videos posted later this
evening. A friend is coming to a show I am attending tonight
and will be taking some videos for me. I'll post them up when
I get them and when I figure out how too. LOL.

Wait a minute, doesn't Mio make a Knight Rider GPS navigation system voiced by William Daniels? You could integrate that into the works and have it display on one of the screens...

Most excellent job Brian! :cool

Still trying to get mine together so we can do some cruises...

Beautiful! This brings back a lot of childhood memories for me (I was born in 1982, but I remember watching the show).

Hey gang,

Thought I would share some pictures of my newly finished Knight Rider
KITT replica. Just got it assembled this weekend after months of working
on the interior components. This a very close and accurate representation
of the car used in the first season of Knight Rider. I chose to replicate a
bit later in the seaosn when the car got it's new voice box. I wasn't a
fan of the blinking box they used early on.

The dash is a restored original (Yes, others have claimed this), but this
one IS in fact an orignal. It features the fiberglass dash, bonded to the
stock dash pad as the series car had.

All the buttons are the same exact ones as used in the series as well. The
ones that could not be located were replicated via computer and then
rapid prototyped into a new part that ould be molded. The function pods
which contain the Turbo Boost, Auto Roof and so on are all prototyped
parts.

The electronics are near exact copies also using the original LEDs found
in the series cars. Although, these are fully functional gauges and will
read all of your normal cars functions as well as a few added extras. The
electronics were made by one of the specialty vendors in the hobby.

The overlays for the electronics were made by myself. Designed in
coreldraw12 and etched and cut via a laser cutting system we have
at work. The restoration of the fiberglass dash as well as all of the
other fiberglass consoles were created by both myself and a fellow
friend and vendor of these parts.

Anways, Onto some pictures. I'll try and get more taken as it gets
darker outside. These were taken after one of the shows I attended
yesterday. KITTs first appearence out in over 2 years brought in
second place at the show.

Enjoy!

Unfortunately, the Knight Rider MIO has been discontinued. There is some
kind of lawsuit going on over it all. I don't know the details but I know it is
no longer available.

I know William Daniels (KITT's voice actor) is going to be doing voice
upgrades for Garmin and other GPS units. I have a Garmin in KITT myself
so I will wait and see what I made available for that.

Man I just came across this thread again and I must say....

WOW!!!!!!!! :eek

Awesome job!
