My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (V3 available in post #1 now!)

Re: My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (New Helmet available in post #1!!!)

Sweet deal printing this now. :) However did anyone else find that they had to take parts into netfabb and export them again as STLs so that they were the correct scale? The as downloaded parts for me were microscopic when I brought them into Repetier Host

Re: My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (New Helmet available in post #1!!!)

You can just change the scale in RH to 25.4, should bring it back to 100%

Ear pod done. Could have done both at once, but I printed it standing up instead of flat. I had warping before.

Re: My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (New Helmet available in post #1!!!)

Anytime, bro:)

It's the least I can do. Any news on your printer?

My printer is starting to successfully print objects! I have had a few problems here and there, most notably I need to buy a glass sheet to use as my print bed, as I am printing on just the heated bed with blue painters tape right now. But it's coming together slowly but surely!

Does your printer print ABS or PLA? I've found good results with PET tape on the heated glass bed for PLA.

Sits about 2.75" high :) Thanks again for the great model! Just need to do a little more sanding, then I'll spot putty and prime

Re: My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (New Helmet available in post #1!!!)

Here's what I have so far. Jaw complete, little delamination spots on the ends, but nothing super glue and a heat gun can't fix. I sliced the back piece of the helmet into four parts, got three parts done. I'll do the fourth tomorrow and super glue them all together.

Re: My Iron Man Mark III Helmet 3d Print Files (New Helmet available in post #1!!!)

would some one be kind enough to split the helmet top and the helmet bottom files in half for me they are both too big to fit in my replicator 2 and i have no idea how to get it to split in rhino 3d

You can split them up however you like in nettfab basic.

Use this stuff to glue the parts together. Works great on pla

I used masking tape on the outside of my helmet to hold my parts together while I plastruct the inside. Takes about 20 seconds to get tacky and I let it set overnight to make sure of a good bond.

So you can apply in on just the back side?
