There is an effort to do an Ark group project. I posted the link on the second page of this thread. It slowed a little lately but last update said several guys are working on various pieces and we are waiting for them to finish.

Nope. I was real carefull about how I used each gold leaf sheat. I did the glue in stages. I would do one sheet over the center of the face ending at the upper lip, then I would put the glue line around the jaw and not perfectly straight so it would have a natural looking line like the rest of it. Then you take other pieces and throw them on. I would glue the hair in stages so the edge of a sheet was on the hairline or in a hair groove.
It really is worth the $20 to get a spare idol and practice. Gold leaf behaves a certain way. The bright Gold paint underneath helps a great deal. Even with both idols, two gold leaf kits and eyes I have about $70 invested in this Idol.

Hey nice collection! Especially like the Urn and Vial.
Pic of the original Idol with the motorized eyes. It was posted on COW and confirmed as the original. Unlike the "prop store" Idol who's eyes did not move you can see these are the eyes seen in the film. It was replated in the mid 90s according to the good folks on COW.

Blue Five's latest Idol
I designed that Club Obi Wan handbill (in the background of your pics) several years ago. Sold them on eBay for a while. Glad to see it as part of an impressive collection!

Thanks so much. Azuma (COW) makes the best lit ones. His one and only run was a nightmare for him so a second run is nowhere near. I missed out on those. He is also working on a painted one and his will probably be the best. I have yet to find a really good stone. The one here in my collection is one I got off Ebay for about $20. It's nice but I do want a more accurate one. Various stones show up on Ebay regularly but they are just okay. For such a simple prop trying to get it right seems to be real hard as is often the case. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else.

That's a pretty impressive collection you got there. Only thing I didn't see in the photos is a bullwhip. Do you have one or plan on getting one?
I'm converting my Fertility Idol bank as well, but thought the eyes would be too much of a hassle. Now, thanks to your thread, I'm definately going for the doll eyes.
