My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) New Model done! a new construction starts!!!

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

I wanted to make them like a corset that you can tie up and cover the cord with the spine, but naaaahhh!!! Back to pep and see what happens....tomorrow I have to use a stripping wheel to scuff the chest and back and will start adding bondo; also tomorrow I will be placing the magnets and I wish I can buy an electric mouse sander, but a block and sand paper will do for now, I think I will start 60, 80, 100 , 120 grit

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

I like the thickness and flex that would allow for abs...pep and glass would be so rigid.. I will try these with the foam and the pep pattern glued on it then coated with resin...
I did that on the neck I tried,
completefoamandpaperneck2-1.jpg

this is without resin

this one has resin.
foamtemplateneck2.jpg

It still had the thickness of the foam, but ended up with something that could be bondo'd
This neck needed to be made longer, but you can see it turned out pretty cool, it still has flex, that would be lost with the bondo though I had thought to cover it in 65D then use that as a mold with urethane rubber like Davy did his neck gasket...
Maybe we can try that with the abs...?

I will have to play around with that idea too, I wish I can Just cast them with rubber and a mesh base to be a little more rigid, I was looking a his thread, I want some of those elbows, and back knee covers

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

Yes! I really liked the behind the knee covers as well, and the crook of the elbo covers too...
though I have a link of a more machined one for behind the knees... I'll send it too you .. It isnt unfolded but you;ll get the idea.... I found some flex tubing for the fingers that when painted to match the gloves should be nice as well.. it will hot glue to a set of thin black rubberized work gloves easily.

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

what kind o tubing? can you post a picture here...

Hey guys, nice to see another couple of guys working on WM stuff. I just finished the helmet myself, moving on to the torso. I'm 6'1", so I will stick with the 1.69 scale, adding just a little bit more to it.

Also, propnoob, I see you're from Schaumburg! I'm not too far from you (Peoria). Awesome to know I'm not the only one doing a WM and with another so close!

Welcome brother in arms! hahahaha, hey I think you should make it 1.72 that would look perfect I think, well it depends how you are built....

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

Thanks! I was just starting to print it out at 1.70 when you posted, so I cancelled printing and readjusted to 1.72. haha Talk about good timing! Is the lower torso scaled the same?

I'm scaling mine to 1.85; i'm 178 lb and 5' 11"

I guess I should also post what I have done so far, which is just the helmet. I still have to put the little piece between the eyes in/light the eyes up, but that will come after all has been finished.

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)

So I'm using Epoxamite 100 with the 101 hardener, it came with a few pumps that are designed to pour the correct amount of part A and B, it came with 3 pumps, one for the epoxamite 100 and one for the 101 fast hardener. The third is if you are using the 102 or 103 hardener, so no need to with or mark any cups to be able to get the correct mix. So the correct mix every time.

Also I bought a bunch of cups, Popsicle sticks for sanding, fiber glass cloth, a heat gun, masks, goggles, primers etc...

It came with the pumps? Sorry if it sounds dumb but on the site I seen they were separate and I didn't want to get two of the same thing if I don't have to.

Just posting my update as part of the War Machine Brotherhood :D

For any who may be wondering, the chest scale is at 1.72 (thanks to propnoob!). Based on everyone's sizing, I think I've figured out what I'll use for a majority of the pieces.

Thigh - 1.52
Shin - 1.52
Boots - Since propnoob and I both wear a 10.5, I'll also scale up Zabana's by 10%
Shoulders - 1.57
Abs - 1.88

I'm 6'1" and 180lbs. Pretty average build. I'm basing my sizing off of the chest in comparison to propnoob's, adding .03 to each pieces scaling, seeing how the chest fits perfectly. Is this a good way to do this?

Also, propnoob, have you made it to the arm pieces yet?

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

Im done with one side of my arm and two bicep.I'm cutting my elbows..I'm going by Measuring my whole arm in reference to the pictures...for my elbow I put my arm and bicep together in the open position them I measured to cover the back then I scaled up on pepakura printed them will cut them out tonight when I get home..

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

I really like the idea of a War Machine Brotherhood!!! :) Whatcha think David? Think we should start new thread? The War Machine Brotherhood or War Machine Nation?:cool

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)working on torso until complete

I likey!!!! I wonder is there a way to link all the WM threads so people can see it...

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

Update time; so since I have been so busy looking for a job, and interviewing I haven't done much, but I managed to finish the lower torso, the scale I used was 1.85, just for reference I'm 178 lbs size 34 pants, anyway...I got a couple of goodies today, got drenched cause it was raining...

To help me with sanding I go my hand sander $ 19.95+tax minus a 20% coupon:

And Some hinges that I may use for the knee or elbow joins:

So here is the lower torso:
all put together:

Top part:

Cod piece:
left it attached to the bottom portion of the torso:

There is a part on this I'm removing it and attach it directly to the spine, it only attaches to the cod with two small tabs and it flaps around, I'm modding that part...

Middle ab and spine:
I'm removing the spine and make it as a support; will post pics later so you can see what I mean...

I just realized that i only have to build the two arms and I'm done peping for a while....
