Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

Great progress!:) Glad to see you are finding possible solutions to the issues we will be running into! I hope the tubing works, if you split it and trim the excess off the tubes they look like they'll work! I am happy to help, even if it is in a small way! Love that Zabana glove!!!! They are hot!:cool
The War Machine Brotherhood is off to a great start!:cheers

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

CanI be in the brother hood club..? Lol...that's a good idea on the tube.for THE fingers

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

You are already part of the Brotherhood Don Juan! :) I could get you tubes for the fingers if you want, just let me know when you have a glove ready and I will send them. I know Propnoob will keep us posted on how they work!:cool

I wanted to add that I found a color for the black/grey of the armor that looks really, really good once applied. I used it on my helmet and I think it's very close. I'm not sure how well you can see it on the cap, but it's got a "glittery" finish to it. Not like fairies glittery...haha. It looks super good, though.

Would you take a picture closer to the can so we can see the color and have some sort of reference as to what it reads on the can, easier to find that way...

Loving the Ex-wife missile haha! good stuff

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

BIG NOTE TO PEP BUILDERS!!!! RESIN ASAP WHILE CARDSTOCK IS CRISP AND DRY!!! IT WILL SAG AND WARP WITH HUMIDITY AND TIME!!! That is all caps because I darn near lost a week of work!:facepalm:facepalm:facepalm
Just put resin on my chest and back! It was almost a disaster! :sick
The humidity down here is close to 90% so I found my peps sagged into a wet mess on my work table! :confused
I think I was able to salvage it. Here are some pics.

You can see the warps and buckles across the upper back, this had happened everywhere!!!:cry
I was able to tape/shim with sticks and prod 95% of it back into shape while it was curing! The rest will have to wait until Bondo and sand.
Davy our recently finished Iron Man build gave me the advise to do one piece at a time...If I had done that, this would not have happened.. Life happens! I had INTENDED to resin this last weekend, but; (insert long list of disasters here LOL!)

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

I think off you add a little extra hardener and heat lamp it would be a lot better also some lighter coats at the beginning...

Aawww maaan!!! did you do the whole thing in one shot? remember when I did mime, I did it in quarters, first one side of the front, then let it dry, then the opposite side on the back, for example you do the left left side of the front, then you do the right side of the back, then right side of the front then left side of the back, it was raining when I did mine and I did it outside, then when it was curing and the smell subsided I brought it inside and let it harden better in the kitchen, I cracked the window a little bit adn put a fan so it takes the smell out, the good thing is that I'm using Epoxamite 100 and the hardener 101, you can even use inside and no strong smell. I did it outside cause I live in an apartment an do not have that much space....

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

Thats why i keep my pep on my room, when i coat them then i leave em in my workshop, i also use a lil bit more hardener and i put the pieces directly on the sun

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY) The brotherhood begins!!! Update

Another update; Well I have not done much today; I'm doing the boots again because I thought about to add some hardware to it, that way I can make them move like a regular shoe would bend; I will look tomorrow for some rods and tubing to achieve it....I may take a couple of days off to get my juices flowing also spend a little more time with my wife, we are expecting another baby so I am so happy I can barely work with my war machine, I think I may start making a little war machine booties and blankets...so as you can see i have been busy making other things haahahhahahaha.....

Sorry about that. There was no color actually listed on the can itself. It's a bit difficult to see the color on the cap with my camera, but I found the paint on Krylon's site.

It's "Black Textured"

It does give the helmet a rougher feel, but it dries a bit lighter. I picked it up at Wal-Mart. I was happy with the color.

Re: My HD War Machine suit (PIC-HEAVY)is Official!! I'm going to be a daddy again!!!!

I use that krylon for the pvc on my fish tanks..it looks like a semi gloss paint...not glossy but not a primer look to it..well that's the color I have seen or bought at Walmart..its great for Plastic
