My first Predator Costume

On a side note, not sculpting for 20 years has not helped my skills lol. This is going to take longer than I thought for a set of hands ;)

Let us know how you get on Dillon
Will do! At work today, got to sculpt a little bit. Was planning to finish tomorrow, but I may get held for another shift tomorrow.(Fire Dept) But definitely will get some more done by monday. Was checking proportions and realized my initial blocking out of the hands were waaaay out of proportion, so I scrapped em, and began anew. Happier with this shape now anyway. Thanks for the advice and encouragement! This place is great!

So, got held at work today, but in some downtime managed to rough out one hand. Still a LOT of refining to do, but I almost have the basic shape down.

Forgot how something tbat seems so "simple" can be a bitch to get right. Props to all you amazing sculptors in here-serious talent!!!

Learning a few things on this first "bigger sculpt" for my predator. Wood carving set is great for medium to larger projects with monster clay. Especially when it is firm. And second, I wasted a ton of time sculpting basing my pred hand off of my own. I thought that I was just doing this for size, but I was totally incorporating human characteristics into the sculpt. Which was making me confused as to why it looked so wrong. The pred hand is NOT a human hand lol. Looks similar, but proportions and anatomy are deceptively different. Wish I had more pics to work from lol.

I have seen a few versions of the "gloved" hand, but I dig this variant. Thinks I will go with this glove/hand idea.

Also, my brother is visiting and brought this bad boy. Wish I could reverse engineer this for the gauntlet. Pretty perfect action!!

I think the difference between one who sculpts and a sculptor is the speed and ease of which the sculptor works. This took quite a bit of time, and was not easy lol. Definitely helping me get the rust off the gears so to speak.

Tips on hollow hand casting? I did my first, made a huge mess and the interior is pretty uneven. I initially beauty coated the halves, the while adding more silicone, rotated as much as I could, to coat as even as I could. But the cast was pretty bad. Hollow, I can put my hands in, but in inconsistent as far as thickness goes. Need sone tips if possible!!! Thanks guys!

Taking a break from hand fails. Pack almost done needs more work on paint, some cover-up parts for the foam inside. And a mounting system. Getting there...
