I have a few different new projects I am working towards.
Rey’s blaster. I printed the parts just waiting on the fasteners I ordered to arrive.
A power pack to go with my Jawa ion blaster.
Working on a file I found online. I am trying to improve it. I plan to print some out an hand out at Galaxy’s Edge during the upcoming family trip. Still a WIP.
I have a set of western .22 caliber pistols with holsters from my dad who passed away last year. I don’t want real bullets in the loops in their holster so I plan to print them. Here is a test of the file I found. I plan to print the bullet in silver and the shell in gold or bronze, then wash with black or brown acrylic. I need 41 of these to fill all the loops in the two holsters.
I thought I would try my hand at a larger bullet. I found a file for the denix revolvers.
They turned out okay. I made them for display inside the cylinder but even though the print is 100% it still snaps the bottom off using PLA. So they will be displayed outside the revolver or until I just break and buy the denix bullets.
This was a replica I bought my dad because he was an old west fan and he displayed it with his autograph photo of the star of The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp.
I found a 3D file for an imperial credit online but the item was way too small. I attempted to scale up based on the replicas sold at Galaxy’s Edge but I noticed some weird things incorporated in the design when enlarged. Also, imperial logo was distorted because the length and width upscale was not identical. So while cleaning it up, and redoing the imperial emblem, I also decided to add the back groove.
I remembered I needed the little radio on my strap of my Rogue One Rebel Helment so Thought I would throw a couple of shapes together in tinkered to see if I could come up with a passable replica.
Wanted to update the beskar ingot in my collection using the new printer. I was originally planning to paint it, but I thought the silver silk PLA came out beautifully. Only added black to the imperial symbol.
The print is hollow with a separate bottom. I filled fully with sand for added weight equaling 8.4lbs.
I had been playing around with Skeleton Crew Old Republic credits. I started out with a file I found online and played around with various printing options and then started tweaking the size and design elements.
Instead of throwing away the prototype types, I decided to paint them up and hand them out at our upcoming trip to Galaxy’s Edge next month. I decided to go with a used look vs the on screen freshly minted look because it’s hard to achieve that shiny gold look unless you plate or have some airbrush and fancy paints. Plus not really something I really wanted to spend a lot of time on.
Also been working on a jawa power pack. Used a technique involving baby powder, white glue and paint to help with a more or organic look. Adding hose next.
I had the old nylon strap from my Museum Replica Yavin medal (the one that came with the ceremony jacket) from when I switched it out. However, waste not, want not… so I decided to use it for a medal I 3D printed for my daughter. I am still looking for the best display method.
Yeah, I did something similar with mine, opting for the flat panel black velvet instead of sculpted neckline (the medal is supposed to hang pretty low).
