Question Barry.... do you have any pics of the bottom of the ship? How will screw holes and the lighting be handled??
[/b]

I guess through the mounting pole (if there is one).
Btw. i would prefer batteries too (don't like cables all around ;-))
[/b][/quote]
I would rather have the power or lighting cable going through the mounting pole. I don't want to have to be changing the batteries all the time. Especially if it's going to be displayed in a museum case as mine will be. I do hope the lighting will be easily accessible to change out when necessary. That said,..I hope they are quality, long lasting lights. Maybe the smaller lighting (aside from the engines) can go into the base with fiber optics going through the mounting pole to the panels and floods? The easier to access and change out ,.. the better in my opinion.

Barry,..thanks for all the updates. You Da Man.

Regarding the lighting on the Falcon.

The cockpit/headlights/engines are lit. They mounting pole enters the Falcon's body in the same place as on the studio scale minitaure (it is a replica afterall :)). It enters the body though the lower gun turret, but instead of removing the detail as happens on the model, MR left the detail on, the only thing missing is the gun itself. The mount ends in a jack plug that connects the model to the power.

The replica will come with an international transformer that will work, like most computers do, in any country. They're common enough. All you'll need to do is buy a holiday adapter for the American plug that will be on the power cable and voila, Bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt.

Good answer.

Thx Barry.

That thing looks fantastic .. any chance of more detail pics pleeease...like closeups of the side panels and the access pits on the top and bottom of the ship.

Thanks lots

Those details are amazing.
[/b]

I have to admit that while we had amazing scan data from the actual model and hundreds of detailed reference pics, Larry's little helpers Frank, and Moe provided MR with kits parts and so much knowledge about the bird, that it would have been hard to mess this one up.

I'm a firm believer in finding those most passionate about a particular project and involving them in it because I think it pays dividends. And the MR Millennium Falcon seems to be proof of that.

Plus you have to have great model makers making the master or the final product won't be so hot. MR were fortunate enough to have the same amazing team that built the AT-AT, work on the MF. I remember the first time I saw pics of the AT-AT I was so happy they had nailed it. It looked like a brand spanking new AT-AT.

When I saw the first pics of the MF, my jaw hit the floor and everytime I look at it I am stunned the talent that brought her to life.

Guess you can tell how much I like great modeling :) That's why your E blows me away.

Barry,

When do you expect the final paint master by Dymerski to be finished? When the paint master is complete, will you provide pics?? I can't wait to see the paint job...

Thanks.

Dean is working on the paint master as I type.

The official unveiling will be after everything is approved and signed off on.

So, what kind of dimensions do you think would be accurate if we'll end up needing to get our own display case? If the Falcon won't be coming with one, it might be nice to get one in the meantime so when they do arrive, they can go safely under plexi.

The base dimensions will be given out when the Falcon goes up for sale. The base will have the same molding currently used on all MR collectibles so an acrylic cover will sit on it.

I know MR used to do payments, but that was a year or two ago. I doubt it,.. but who knows?

is there any news on how many they are going to produce.

and if not being a member of the Collectors Society having
the slightest chance getting one of these, before they are
sold to the Ebay sellers ?? and pay double.

and will MR consider helping the overseas people with
some better shipping rates ??

I don't think MR should give this an edition number just yet. Like they did with the lightsabers, have it open for a while and let everyone who wants one right away get one. Then, set the edition number and send out an extra plaque. I don't think this'll be that affordable so I dont' see thousands of people buying it right away, unless MR institues some sort of payment plan. Even then, the edition size-once announced-would end up being very low because many people just can't afford it, payment plan or not.

That could be good frost, i think with a payment plan and decent shipping rates id go for one, it would be a shame for ebay slags to get too much in on the action and rip the hell out of the collector, with this in place id maybe take the plunge.
