MR Falcon Displays

Guys - my big hesitation on getting the Falcon is how am I going to display it. I would prefer to display it on a pedestal, pole, or tripod.

The MR base is too large to work in my house. About the only table it would fit on is a coffee table or kitchen table and that won't work.

I'm looking for a more museum type display.

I would love to hear some thoughts from everyone regarding what would make a cool display / base.

Thank you..

Heres my Display :) Thats an Ikea Tv Rack

VERY nice barney five.

Stormy320 - I know exactly what you mean. I felt the same about the size of the mirror base too. I went ahead and designed a smaller, custom stand and it was russrep machined it for me. I had a white pedestal made from an artist supply shop and here's the end result:

Wow thats a beautiful display. Im still waiting for mine to arrive. Im in the UK and we havent had many here yet. Its good to see these other display options.

Wow. Chris. Very nice display.

Is the Tatooine picture a stock poster, or something you created yourself? If the former, where did you get it? If the latter, I'd love to hear what went into making it.

A good friend and I spent some time setting this display up yesterday courtesy of four Ikea "Billy" cabinets and some inspiration from a fellow RPF'er.

It holds my other Master Replica SW Props nicely.

Wow - all of these are super nice and exactly what I was looking for..

cking - Yours would probably work the best for me. How tall is your pedestal and tell us again how you got the picture behind the Falcon?

The pedestal is 30 inches tall and the custom stand elevates the Falcon another 6 inches.

The backdrop started out as an HD screen grab which I re-sized in Photoshop. I sent the file to a professional printing company and they reproduced the artwork and mounted it onto foam board. Finally, the artwork is matt heat sealed to the board to protect it and save it from lifting off the board.

Nice looking displays guys. Man, if I hadn't just gotten the big Enterprise ($$) from MR I'd snag a Falcon. GAHHH.

Yes RAD1701 the new Master Replicas E is hard to resist.

Mine arrived last Friday and I was lucky enough to get one with no structural or paint flaws- The plexiglass case should be here in a couple of days.

It is pretty spectacular all lit up.

Here's what I did with mine: industrial aluminum table/stand with original mirror base (which I happen to like very much). Added geek bonus: white curtains blur translucent mount to the point where the Falcon really looks like she's flying. What do you think?

It IS flying. That looks great.

Just a quick question. Is there a danger over the years for the paint work to get faded if displayed next or near to a window or do the curtians prevent this from happening?

Thanks for the thumbs up on the display. And, yes, I suspect there is a danger of the paint fading with my Falcon being so close to the window. But it's only in direct sunlight in the morning - so I make sure that the curtain is closed. The rest of the day it's out of the sunlight and I really don't worry too much. I wonder if Barry knows anything about the Falcon's paint job and if its especially resistent or susceptible to sunlight.

Guys what are the dimensions on the Ikea pieces (LXWXH)? And anyone happent to know if they're still available?
Ikea has a whole system of furniture with the name Billy; it looks to me as if Pauleysolo used the three-shelf Billy bookcase, available in birch veneer, black-brown, medium brown, and white, and reasonably priced at $59.99. :)

Width: 31 1/2 "/80 cm
Depth: 11 "/28 cm
Height: 41 3/4 "/106 cm
Max load per shelf: 66 lb/30 kg)

I'm not sure where in SoCal you are, but they're currently in stock at the San Diego store. You can find out more, and check availability, through this link:

They all look amazing, some excellent ideas. There are some prop replica collections pictured here to die for. :love

IKEA's LACK tables are also a good option if you want something lower. They make one that is almost the exact width of the Falcon base. Depth-wise, it's short (meaning the Falcon will overhang it. This wasn't an issue for me as I was putting it close to one wall and just lined up the edge of the base with the edge of the table. You don't notice the overhang in the back.

They make a slightly bigger table that will net you about 3"-4" around the perimeter of the Falcon base.

Gents, I am in need of a better looking display for the MR Falcon. Since you guys started a thread about it, I thought I would inquire here. I would like a more "studio" look to it's display rather than the "collectible" look of the MR display. Maybe mounted on some heavy duty tripod or armature of some sort. Articulating, and 4 to 5 feet in height for viewing. Any ideas?

Also, without taking that heavy beastie off it's stand to look, would anyone know the diameter of the pole that it rests on currently with the MR display?

BTW... I like what cking did with his display...very nice! :)
