For the past couple of months I've had this prototype kicking around the shop:
It was build from a 3D model made by msleeper who had a screen-used prop on hand for reference during modelling. The model is a spot-on reproduction of every detail without all of the scuffs, scratches, flaws, and deterioration of the 20-ish year-old prop it was based on.
I've finally gotten around to molding it:
The castings for the main body are coming out pretty good:
The little detail bits are cast separately:
Here's the complete set of kit parts out of the mold:
The main body is cast in urethane resin with a length of pipe inside to reduce weight and add rigidity. I'll also be adding in some microsphere filler to keep the weight down. These are still coming in at about six and a half pounds in their raw cast state, including the magazine and other detail bits:
Before anybody asks, I'm not interested in making any hollow versions for airsoft or live fire or the like.
Now that the molds are done, I'm offering raw cast kits for $240 plus shipping.
If you want to get in on this run, I'll need a non-refundable $120 deposit in advance in order to add you to the list so I can buy casting materials. Once your kit is boxed up and ready to ship, I'll send you a PayPal request for the remaining balance plus the actual cost of shipping. Shipping will be USPS priority mail, so once the final payment is received, you should have your kit in hand within 3 or 4 business days.
