You got it big boy! A couple of my favorites.

And this ones kinda rare.

Now, I don't get into them deals where I have to keep stuff "secret", so spread these freely however you see fit. You're welcome my friend!

We was talkin' tanks, but did you mean of the Galactica? Probably a good question for earlier huh?

;)

I'll send 'em to you PM, there's several I'll send.

Anyone else following along and wants to help who need a few pictures to peruse over, speak up. Don't be shy. Y'all know the old sayin', "the squeaky grease gets the wheel!"

I will be working on one of the 1/2 scale Salzo Galacticas and wanted to change up some of the details. So I would love anything you could send my way.

Great thread Eagle-1,
That space ship aircraft carrier design is incredible. So is your persistence in continuing with such a complex design. Great build sir.
Recently start watching Battle Star Galactica series of my youth again. Love the idea of retractable landing strip hanger pods. Vipers slamming on to the deck like WW2 Navy pilots.
Best of luck in the effort dedicated to this subject. Much respect for the individuals on this site who kindly support your project with their years of expertise.

Alrighty! I'll do them in a PM for you too. I would just go ahead and post all this crap here, but it'll take up alotta posts and I don't think they'll like it, but like I said, I have very little that is "secret" that someone wouldn't allow me to share. As most of y'all already know, that happens all the time with this kinda stuff and I would never offer what I can't, BUT, I try not to accept that kinda thing to begin with because folks can't help on what they can't at least SEE. A PM, as I found out with Mr. Analyzer, each PM can only contain 50 images, so there'll be a couple. Now, even though you're planning on using these PM's to work on your Galacticas, if you see something that'll help ME, please, don't keep me a hangin'. Deal?

Thank you Mr. Searun! You are certainly correct about the kindness from folks here. Been many kickin' in here with me and I certainly do appreciate it. Unfortunately, as I've shown, I have normal things to do from time to time that'll keep me away, but we'll get-r-done!

Eventually... unless I quit suckin' air.

Tremendously kind and generous of you moonbus. I visited this site.
Fond memories since now returning again to my past appreciation for the Battle Star Galactica series that was initiated in 2004.

Agreed. That's good stuff too!

Well... Got a little more done. Been working on this since Saturday. Needle files was a good friend of mine this time around. Just like I threatened, I worked a little on the sides of the engine section.

Here's what we was headed towards:

Here, of course, is how it comes outta the box, as most of y'all know. I'm not sure why, but I can't seem to take a decent picture lately. Maybe it's the all white pieces? I hope it ain't the old camera, but she is gettin' long in the tooth.

Anyway:

Box stock piece.

This one, and it is just this one side so far... since SATURDAY... just to get this one done and I've still got the other side to look forward to.

Here's an example of one I just couldn't get? I tried this 3 times. It is just one I was trying to show that everything is lined up pretty well.

DSCN0518.jpg

I also worked on the little slice that goes under this piece on the model.

DSCN0519.jpg

Not the most hugest of improvement in looks here I don't think. It certainly doesn't make a drastic improvement (to me), but it is a little better than stock? It'll still need some more clean-up and such, but that is about where this will stay.

Those tank tread I made could possibly be temporary. As I mentioned, they are from a 1/25th Tamiya British Centurion. Mine ain't got here yet, so those shown might go if the ones from China look better. It would be a shame because those are what took the longest and what you see on my mods are actually two kits treads spliced into one. It don't look too bad, but I hope the china ones are better.

Along the way here on these mods, I found a couple more wrong areas of the kit. This piece I've shown here is actually incorrect. The opposite side (I found out after comparing) more closely matches the studio model. This side I modded is mirrored. All those tiny ROCO's are mirrored. It would have been much better if Moebius had copied the other side, but they mirrored it and the whole side is wrong. Also, that strip under the ROCO's section I also modded (shown earlier) is far too wide along the exposed side than the studio. It makes my new vents look better, but there should barely be any of it visible.

With this one, primer should, I'm hoping, make it look more uniform, but it seems some of this is getting too small to do much with in this section.

Sorry it ain't much folks,
Rob.

That makes a huge difference.

Never realized how simplified the moebius kit is as well as how inaccurate it seems to be getting as you look more in depth at the various parts

That makes a huge difference.

You think so? It doesn't Tickle me like some of the other mods have. Better, I do think that, but I thought it would look like it took as much time as it did. Compared to the detailed ROCO's on the original, these Moebius's ones still seem... blah? I might try to add some little bumps and such. I think that would help them look more detailed and complicated like they should, I'm just not exactly sure how yet since two of them will fit on a dime as y'all already know.

You're stressing me out Mr. Analyzer. Don't try to say that you ain't because I'll get stressed from that statement and you will only exacerbate my situation.

Ohm... ohm... ohm...

(Thank you for the encouragement my friend!)

Still, I wouldn't even have tried some of this on the Monogram, so at least we got a solid base to work from. Inaccuracies here and there ain't too bad, but there haven't been any "slam this thing in the garbage" yet and put on an episode of Columbo.

Ok folks, while we're on the subject, here's a pop quiz. Any y'all use TAMIYA Extra Thin Cement?

I'm axing before tellin' because somebody here might not believe what I'm gonna say next. Some, however, may know.

I have been considering switching to that. I only recently switched from using the Testors tube type of glue to using their liquid cement stuff (the one that comes in the diamond shaped dispenser ) and can't believe how much easier, more precise, and cleaner it has been to use that rather than slogging through the tube stuff.

I imagine the Tamiya stuff may be an even better upgrade, but one step at a time. Although that may depend now on what people's responses are here

You exclusively use bubble gum and duct tape?

COOL! Alright, and here's my tip. If you decide you want to try some TAMIYA Extra Thin, try TAMIYA Airbrush cleaner instead. They are the same product according to the ingredients on the Safety Data Sheets in almost the exact same percentages. By almost exact, there are only two ingredients in both (Butyl Acetate and Acetone). 50/50 for one product and 49/51 for the other. I know this sounds like I'm lying or making this up, but it's true. Honestly, I thought more folks knew about this. All y'all have seen me do so far on this Galactica is stuck on with TAMIYA Airbrush Cleaner. Well then, you would think, what's the difference, why even bring it up you ignoramus and just buy the Tamiya Extra Thin? BECAUSE, You get 40ML of the Extra Thin for around $5.00 compared to 250ML of the Airbrush Cleaner for around $7.00. Mr. Analyzer, you would be in for a treat if you tried either of these, trust me. Just a little swipe of either of these with a brush and you can make a seam line disappear in most cases. I say a brush, but the cleaner doesn't have a brush, but the extra thin does.

No sir. Double SIDED duct tape and Dentyne. 4 out of 5 Dentist prefer Dentyne for their patients that use gum and single sided duct tape you gotta fold. Screw that, takes too much time.

Uh-huh!!! WHAT!!! Betta reconize.

Rob.

I think you would like it Mr. Analyer. Mostly plastics, if you try. Won't touch resin. Get yourself a small overpriced bottle of the real thing first and see if you like it, maybe? Then, get the airbrush cleaner and decant it into the small bottle when you need more.

Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!

Besides, I've never exaggerated about how good Super Clean is for stripping paint, so why wouldn't you believe me now?
