Idlewild Park in Ligonier PA has a Mister Roger ride and attraction area
Idlewild and SoakZone // In the Park

Mister Rogers' Neighborhood of Make-Believe
It's a Hug-N-Song Party!
Based upon the popular children's show, this one-of-a-kind attraction takes children and parents on a life-size trolley ride through the well-known "Neighborhood of Make-Believe". Guests can meet and converse with many of their Neighborhood friends.

Featuring

* King Friday XIII
* X the Owl
* Henrietta Pussycat
* Lady Elaine Fairchilde
* Cornflake S. Pecially (Corney)
* The Platapus Family
* Queen Sarah Saturday
* Prince Tuesday
* and Daniel Striped Tiger

Being from western PA, we went many times and the whole park is a fun and relaxing place;
not as "high-intensity" as larger theme parks.

Mike

In college my friend Sarah was one of the trolley drivers. :)

I'm going to be scupting them in the next couple weeks and selling resin casts of them. I too have wanted them for a long while.

I am quite interested in what you come up with. Always wanted those kitchen models myself.

Fantastic pics in this thread. I had most of the Trolley pics, but the puppet ones are brilliant.

Here are a few more I had:

This is from his earlier program "Misterogers" up in Canada, I believe, and currently resides there.

O.K.! SO, I actually just drove from Boston to Cleveland to see the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, but on my way I stopped to see the Children's Museum and the Mister Rogers Exhibit in Pittsburgh. I know, sounds like a conflict of interest doesn't it? I'll post my pictures here, but most are similar to what are already here. Hey! it's the museum! They have what they have! :D

In regards to where the puppets came from, I have a LITTLE bit of information, but not a ton in terms of design. It's easiest for you to watch this interview because the puppets evolve over time. It's nine parts and I love it. Some of his stories are absolutely incredible including one woman on the verge of suicide. Watch them. Incredible.

I know you mentioned the inside models and yes there are a lot of great pictures of those now. This however is something a little different but still very cool, and I just picked one up on eBay......others are available. This is the model that was used to create the outside of Mister Rogers' house that the camera zooms into before Mister Rogers enters his home at the beginning of each episode. The model on the show is painted different colors and the porch was moved to the opposite side.

This model is the Bachmann 45131 Cape Cod House from Plasticville and let me tell you I was shocked at how tiny it actually is!

This is the Trolley at the Children's Museum with a switch to make it work.

Sadly this does not appear to be the actual Trolley, but the wooden toy that was released that has been modified to work on the track there, but I wanted a picture of that system anyway.

Its cool that all this stuff was preserved and a museum set up, who didnt grow up watching this as a kid it was good clean, educational programming for kids and even adults. That lady Elaine puppet used to creep me out as a kid though Lol.

Music was a huge part of Fred's world. I think it's rather appropriate that your trip combined the two.

I've been making my way through this series lately, and it really is a great interview. :thumbsup :thumbsup

I figured anyone making replicas of these puppets would benefit from seeing Daniel's watch up close. So here you go :D

I've seen that! Definitely cool! Talk about a valuable song! It just made me a little sad cause hey! I LOVE cartoons! ;) There's another video/music montage that I used to love that was on youtube that has since come down, but I think I have it, if I do I'll post it.

This is nice as well, Fred's Lifetime Achievement Award (part 1 & 2)
