IMO this mini vader suit rivals some of the full size stuff out there... and as far as I am concerned it completely dominates the Rubies suit.

That warms my heart! :$

My main goal-was to get something to resemble Vader- and look better than the Rubies (at least the kids deluxe thing minimum).

I toyed in my head about a leather or pleather under suit.... but just don't think I want to go down that path for something he'll surely outgrown quick. At least these other parts can be used for a little while with just some bigger boots and gloves when he outgrowns them. Even if the cape is a bit shorter.

With the 2 day Con- boys will be "good guys" on Friday. Nick will be in Solo again, so needed to repaint his room alarm blaster as it was turning orange again.

Decided to take some left over molded up Maul parts I had laying around and throw together a quick "padawan" saber for Jack's jedi costume.

getting a coat of paint:

Not the cleanest of casts (see airbubbles)..... but, whaterver. probably why I had these peices still laying around. quick n dirty saber. Will add a few buttons and some green LED's I have left over.

It's a sickness.... I can't leave my garage and quit building..:lol

I'm killing them too..... haha

we may break em out on Friday night too.

I was going to try n hold off until after the masqurade, but I don't know if that's possible. Not to mention, there are folks there Friday who aren't on Sat. Goat mentioned that Vi may want to wear the solo costume we offered up too, so we might imperial it both nights so we can get more kids mixed in the fun.

Outstanding job! You can see the boys love it and the bunny ears pic is great.

One suggestion: studio pics, then blow it up to a poster and surprise them with it. I mean what kid wouldn't love a poster of themselves in costume?

Thanks everyone for the compliments. We just got home and in bed from day 3 of the con. MUCH success. Massive photos being taken. I'll have to sort thru pics and post some.

Tonight was the Masquarade contest. The boys STOLE THE SHOW! 30 contestants in all this year.

We won, Best Young Fan- Nice trophy that glows different colors:

We also won Best of Recreation- each got a medalion on a ribbon.

and we won Top honors from the Mn Society of Costumers.

All in All- a stellar first contest performance.

The Con was a Blast. Jack is a total HAM and got drew in the crowds, not just in costume.. but goofing it up.

Again- thanks for the compliments and kinds works. What a weekend. I'm exhausted. I have been getting FB notifications with tags of the boys and many new friend notifications. What a great time. It's fun to see a few pics starting to pop up from the weekend on the web and FB.

I still need to sift through them all, but thought I'd post a few Bryan Humphrey took. Fantastic and very grateful he was shooting over the weekend. I just didn't have time with putting helmets on, holding blasters and sabers to really get many of my own shots.

This one was not Bryans, but in the green room after the masquarade.

One of I believe mostly Locals- MN Fan Force, 501ster, Rebel Legion, and those who are part of those as well as Superhero group and RPFers/costumers.

and if the Con wasn't exhausting enough... we had a big 4th of July party yesterday at our place.

Jack is beat, but he was up later on teh Con nights. He actually crashed HARD last night- but Nick was up until 1 am as he wanted to see Anakin become Darth Vader.. he wouldn't let me shut it off.

I'm suprised they are still going right now. Good thing i took the week off.

BTW.. can we preorder the DVD? I need to get that, as I couldn't see much of the masquarade. Plus I know Jack was dancing on stage, taking bows and blowing kisses to the audience.... he was cracking everyone up.

I alwas imagined Vader to be taller judjing from the movies but I guess that it was just another Hollywood trick. Great job on the costumes!
