Millennium Falcon Gold Dice

It's probably like you've said and its a photo shop job

No, you can see it the same way in the VisDict.

The suspicion of photoshopping stems from comparing the two individual dice on the Vanity Fair cover is that if you look at them, there is no way to match the layout. So the dice are either photoshopped or they used a mismatched set. So when i say it is photoshopped, my thinking is that something on the dice looked weird, maybe and odd glare so they tried to fix it.

I'm going to go back a few pages and read this over again, the VD is the force awakens VD?

Yes. When I took the original image from the book, I did it quickly in the store. However now that i got it for Christmas, here is a better image:

this is a great pic you got here explaining the 6 side problem
attachment.php

now you see i just dug up all my old dice ( i have to have 60 die infront of me right now) 80% of them are chessex. it seems that i can get the 6 dots to line up with the 5, but the 3 is now reversed on all of them...

so if its not the 6 its the 3's! LOL

Here is the issue with the VF cover:

Not that you can see the "3" and "2" side on both. But look how the direction of the dots of the "2" are in different corners. I think I even played with the notion that the lighting was bad on the high one and the "3" side was actually "5" but i do not think that worked out either.

probably shopped in... the shorter one (looks further away) looks to be a totally different color.. i think its poor editing or a last minute idea. the chain on the short one is what draws my eye to it, like a rush job to shop the chain together, it doesn't look like its hanging natural

I've watched the video published of the photoshoot and could not see the dice. That doesn't mean they were not there as they never gave a nice wide view. I think it might be possible that dice were never in the original shot. As I also stated, never saw them in the movie.

The color of the dice and the chain in both the VF and VisDict match so I believe they are the same just that some reason in the VF image of the dice were manipulated (assuming a matched set).

My goal would be to try and match a pair of dice to the dice seen in the VisDict as it is the best image.

thats my goal as well

D&G makes a 6d 16mm dice with the right 5 and 6 configuration.

https://www.thediceshoponline.com/dice/1793/D-G-Opaque-Black-16mm-D6-Spot-Dice

However if you look at the other color choices in the same line, they have different configurations. So I would be cautious in ordering.

MJF i think i found a solution. while digging through old dice bags i found some custom dice a ex girlfriend made me... this is when it clicked! (again chessex is mostly the only dice i bought) i remember she made them from their website, i went to the site and sure enough they still make custom dice on the 1 and 6 sides!! (my ex made it on the 6 side)(EDIT) its late right now, and i tend to screw up writing. I'm going to take these photos and write little story to them explaining what we want to do

this wouldn't solve the 2 dot side issue

EDIT: just read it again!!
• We can also offer this process on dice that can have all the sides customized.

BINGO!!!!

My only concern is the real control you have over the layout. It would be better if they had an interactive design software so that you could ensure the directions of the dot layout. These guys are used to adding an image, logo, symbol and in most cases, if any, the customer does not care what direction it is facing. You would have to be very specific in your instructions, even to the point of submitting concept images. If that is the case, you might as well just 3D print it.

I think I will go idealized. I found these vintage solid brass dice on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/151987086838 for $8.

The 6 to 5 configuration is correct. I think the other dots like the 2 and 3 are played out correct. Not enough info from the provided images to know for sure but I tried to figure it out using regular dice and it might work. I guess I will know for sure when I get them.

nice find!! are there anymore?!

They were acquired by the seller from an estate sale so they are the only set. There are a lot of vintage brass dice on eBay but I have no idea if any are the same as these or if any have the same characteristics of the ones we are looking for..

I did some looking and like you say there's a ton.. I have found a matching set but believe it or not they are chessex! idk if I'm gonna pick them up or talk to someone with a 3D printer willing to make these vanity cover dice... I would like to have the 2 dots opposite like the cover to make conversion when showing people

that's one thing I like about prop collecting is explaining to friends what it was originally used for or the story behind it..

Got the dice. Very cool, close... but no cigar.

IMG_2841.jpgIMG_2840.jpg

I am okay with the size, but the main problem is that the 5 and the 2 are on the wrong sides.

When you compare it to the VF cover, it matches the lower die.

I think I will strip off the remains plating and go ahead an replace them with the shiny gold plated plastic dice I have now.

What are you doing for a chain and attaching it?

I've got "Close enough"dice, but no chain as of yet.

I'm lazy so just asking you, heh.
