MiB3 licensee at Comic Con!

Oh, I think the movie is going to rock and I am beyond excited RPF members have a part in the licensed prop offerings, that is amazing!

How could the weapons not look like they came from space? That is precisely where the tech comes from. So far, the look and feel of all the weapons stay true to the first two films and capture that "other wordly" flavor without going over board.

Did anyone SEE MIB2?

Heres the Nueralyzer. photo taken from mania.com
it looks like a very large tube sitting on top of a bus stopish hut. very cool and retro big. reminds me of a vintage TV tube duno.

Looks cool, Stormy!!

So what is up with Factory Entertainment? What MIB props are they producing?

MIB 1?

Super quick from the floor- Factory Ent has the MiB 1 + 2 license and are doing some very cool stuff!

Can't say anything about the new Neuralyzer due to NDA, but all will be revealed in time.

I must say that I am a bit underwhelmed too. Not by the execution of the props, they look top notch. But the look, except for weapon 1 I don´t really feel that they have any real character. They are so streamlined, there is not much for the eye to cling to, it´s all one swooshy mooshy streamlined slick chrome soup. There is not much contrast in them.

Michael, I can understand what you mean in one sense, but I would liken these to a very high end expensive sports car. The lines really flow and in person tey are simply breathtaking. The work is amazing and doesn't have the clunky, over-designed look of the originals. No, they don't have character in terms of a lot of detail, but they do have character like the smooth curves of... I think I'll stop there before I am called a sexist...

I think the other issue is there is little to no reference to the originals. No familiarity of the cricket, j2 or neuralyzer. Just alien guns. These do not make me thing happy thoughts about growing up around MiB.

I liken it to the reaction people would have if the proton packs for GB3 were completely redesigned and looked like vaccum cleaners or jetpacks or whatever. The nostalgia is gone. Cool factor isn't enough sometimes.

Am I the only one who thinks that this particular weapon looks like it was pilfered from the left-over props from the last MIB movie?

I am not following this logic unless you were hoping for lame rehashes of the original guns. I would argue that the style and reference is very akin to some of the original designs, with more of a streamlined look, but still similar. Saying there is no familiarity seems a bit inaccurate to me as these scream MIB to me. I like some of the new guns and don't care for others, but whether I like them or not, they certainly scream MiB to me.

You see the same thing between the lightsabers from the OT to the prequels and you WOULD see the same thing in a new Ghostbuster movie... it would still be a GB pack, but I am confident it would be more modern and snazzy.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion, but I just don't see how you can look at these and not see the MiB connection.

We could start with the simple truth that the weapons and gadgets in the first movie looked unique both because of their intended design but also the budgetary restrictions they faced in fabrication. There is an interesting charm to them because of that. These look generic to me. I actually feel as if there is NOTHING that "screams" MiB in them. They look like they could have come out of any sci-fi action flick from the past ten years.

I am going to use your style of argument and say, "I just don't see how you can look at these and SEE the MiB connection".

I am not just here to hate, I am here as a fan of the franchise who believes that if it only gets worse than MIIB, then they should have stopped at the first.

I think it's unrealistic to see a single still of the weapons and think you will simply love it. I know I wouldn't have with the J2, noisy cricket, or the neutralizer if all I had seen was pics of them.

You have to give them a chance to see them in the context of the movie.

Having said that..I like the new J2 looking weapon, it's moved on, yet kept some original roots.

The shotgun is bad-ass! Got to see it out of the glass case. All of the MIB props were awesome.

The guy told me these were screen made/used.

This is indeed great news. The production company who made the original props are now offering these prop replicas, I hope this trend continues with other franchises as well.

I have a feeling once people see these props on screen, more people will warm up to these replicas then.
