Metal Blade Runner PKD Blaster Build

Hey all, small update on progress. Its been pretty manic in the Workshop with Halloween orders, they have finally started to settle down before the Christmas rush so I'm going to use this time to try and get the Resin parts of the blaster moulded.

Here is the first half of the Cylinder covers.

This is the first cast out of the mould and I'm pretty pleased with it, I have hidden the seam lines at the back and it came out pretty clean and shiny. Its supposed to be a DIY kit but I don't think this part will need any post processing

Made a new spin mold for the smaller parts, I'm getting much cleaner pulls from this now. Its a very minor change but a nicer end result!

I have molded up the remaining parts that will be cast in Resin.

Ready for the 2nd half!

I will post another update tomorrow with the first test casts from he new molds, after this the only thing left to do is make the mold for the Styer frame and Bulldog frame and I can start the process of stock piling parts ready for orders!

Have you come up with a price or estimated price for the kit? I need to know if I have to self-extract and sell my gold fillings...

Here we go, Moulds are all done and first cast have been made. They look overly shiny due to them being cast first and came out a little sticky but that will settle down as the silicone finishes curing properly.

The Cylinder cover on the bottom left is more like what they will eventually all look like.

Here is the collection of the test casts and will eventually make up the first prototype build.

Wow. That looks amazing, Dave!

Can I ask why you decided to cast the cylinder in resin rather than metal? Is it a technical constraint because of the casting? Or was there some other reason?

Regardless, it's absolutely amazing work! Well done indeed!

Had a think about it today, calculated material cost and time to work on them and I think its going to be around £350 ish (this may change)

Thanks! yes a bit of a technical constraint and a cost thing. I'm trying to keep the price down and I figured that most if not all will end up on display and so the cylinder will never really be seen.

Cool. Very sensible. :)

Considering the work you have put into prototyping and eventual production the price seems very reasonable, even if it does increase a bit.
