Haha thanks for the bump Ironhabs. A bit of an update- I'm back in Dallas now and I'm trying to have the arms finished by the end of the week. As soon as I have some sort of finished product to show, I will.

And here is the unfortunate result of throwing a helmet into checked luggage-

Hopefully it shouldn't be too hard to glue back together, but it's still unfortunate.

That sucks very much. But easy fix as you said.

Holy crap that really sucks ... you should be able to repair it but you will most liekly have to fill in some small gaps in the crack afterward

I agree, If I don't touch it up afterwards you will always be able to tell the crack is there. that's a lot of refinishing to do though. I just glued it and thankfully when the two sides are brought together it isn't entirely noticeable, so right now it's lower on my list of priorities:lol

after you do that.. perhaps you could lay down a little fiberglass to help strengthen the rest for future mishaps.

What material is it? Looks like clay. Can you make a fiberglass one? (more strength)

The helmet is made out of smooth-cast rotational casting resin, which is fairly strong if thick, but was pretty thin in that area so I used some bondo to thicken it up, that's what you see behind the plastic. I have it glued now and I'm considering either lining it with fiberglass or taking better care of it in the future...

Haha ok GJ you twisted my arm...


Here are some pics I managed to find online of my "test drive" of the suit. I say test drive because the arms still weren't done, and it was the first time wearing it all together in public. Lots of tweaking left!

I love how you made the other arm look like it does when RDJ isn't wearing the hero suit arms.. with the black and white dot arm band.. for CGI purposes.. Genius!!!

Haha I made that at the last second because honestly wearing an unfinished costume at a con is one of the last things I want to do! I had to just tell everyone that I was going to put the other arm on in post

I think when McLean, You and I get finished we all need to hit up a con somewhere that is a good compromise between our locations.
