She agreed, but she wasn't excited about it. I explained in an excited voice that she would have one of the most awesomist costumes ever at her school. I just hope there are no other RPF members that go to her elementary school. I could tell she did not want to dissappoint me and (as she whispered goodbye to her princess outfit this year) agreed. I was going to build the suit whether she wanted or not anyway. This way...it would be a practice build for me and is something the wife could get behind because it was "for her":love.
A little bit about me, I just started reading posts and view incredible build after build from these forums this year. I really would like to build a suit for me but I am not sure what it will be yet. I have seen Stealth's youtube videos and decided it was time to start on a build back in June of this year. Having no prior experience with this type of hobby, I wanted to give myself plenty of time. I haven't posted a build thread before because, well I was embarrassed that my build wouldn't be up to par with the rest of the builds I see here. I would say I am 85% done with her suit and should easily be done before Halloween this year
.
I chose to build my 10 year old daughter the MKVI from Robo3867's templates and Sharkman_IM's helmet. It is the most cost effective way to go for a foam build. Learning which angle to cut the foam can really test your patience level sometimes. I used 1/2" (10mm) foam for most of the armor. The smaller stuff required 6mm foam. I imagine the hands will be done with 2mm foam. I really wanted a thick look to the armor to give it that "I'm tuff look". I have redone parts because of wrong angle cuts, bad scaling, and "How is she going to get into that now?". I have cut and burned myself countless times. Those exacto blades cut through foam without resistence when they are new. Enough about my jibber jabbing, let me post some progress pics...
