Mass Effect 3 Ending, opinions and feelings?

Bioware is doing horribly when it comes to PR. The long they screw around and keep lying the fewer people will want the DLC or any other games they want. I haven't been on the board as i'm tired of seeing the mods crush threads including those about charity work and then lie when they post.

Wow; BW are still trying to tell people you can get the 'optimal' (ha ha) ending without doing multiplayer. It's flatly impossible according to, well, everyone else.

Anyone know what the maximum amount of War Assets available are? I'm curious, cause I don't think it's over 8000.

7200, I thought?

I actually feel a bit nauseous about all this - that we've contributed to BioWare's coffers. I know this is as precious as all hell but I make a point of not contributing to franchises I consider to be screwed up; it's the only power I have as a consumer to help encourage the people involved to do better.

Now I hear you can't even play the game without an active network connection. Does anyone know whether this is true?

We don't network our PSIII. I'm seriously considering returning the damned disc when it arrives, or maybe I'll just get on BSN and post a photo of us using it as a coaster, unopened. It's the Collector's Edition, too.

Again: you don't have to tell me I'm being precious. I know. Sigh.

I'm pretty sure you need the net hooked up. Welcome to the future of gaming. if you dont' have a good net connection no game systems coming out from now on will let you play games offline from what i hear.

Yeah, was just reading the PSIV thread. Well, that about wraps up my gaming career then. I'll live without it quite happily, there are tons of other things to do and I don't devote all that much time to it anyway. We'd only buy an average of seven or eight games a year, I'd say.

Still, that's $800 PA less revenue for the game industry multiplied by anyone else who finds the upcoming rumoured PSIV restrictions on used games and forced registration and locking to one PSN account etc etc as unacceptable as I do.

This is DIVX all over again...

According to a quick Google search the maximum achievable is 7515. Anyone who claims they got the "best" ending without MP is either lying or they did one of the iOS games, or did something with the PC files.

Yeah, the reactions to Bioware not eating the cupcakes are entertaining. It didn't help that the lawyery press release about them was so badly worded that ****** Priestly had to come on the forums to clarify. No one has missed the opportunity to point out the irony of them passing on eating the cupcakes either :)

My net connection dropped one night while I was playing. I was able to play just fine, but my Readiness rating dropped to 0% until I connected back to the net. So, on second thought, you can play but you can't launch the final mission because you won't meet the minimum requirement. Or at least, I think that's why my readiness dropped to zero.

Does anyone get the feeling that BioWare doesn't commit to their own stories? Think back on Mass Effect 2.

The Collector Base. A pretty huge deal considering it had technology to create a Reaper, bug swarms and those mini Reaper destroyers. Choosing to save it or destroy it really felt like you were choosing the fate of the galaxy right there at that very moment. When I saw early footage of Mass Effect 3 and how Cerberus managed to create an army with impressive technology at it's disposal, I honestly thought that was the result of saving the Collector Base. Made sense to me, until I played my character who destroyed the collector base and everything was exactly the same. The only thing that comes from the Collector Base being saved is just 10 more points in war assets from the remains of that god awful Human Terminator that I had already forgotten about.

Dholen's Sun. I'm sure everyone remembers Mass Effect 2's Tali Recruitment mission on Haestrom. The one where the sun burned through your shields if you stayed in the sunlight for too long? There was a lot of strange things going on that the game made very clear like how the sun was dying too early and the reasons behind it were not natural. Something was happening to that stun and the Quarians were concerned over it. Why wouldn't they? If the force behind the collapse of the sun was still out there, this could mean that the galaxy as a whole could be in danger of being destroyed. ME3? Nobody brings it up. What happened? Did they forget to send Shepard an email saying "We solved it! We just got the date of the sun wrong and the colony had these super duper sun shields we never knew about that failed when the Geth invaded. Sorry to worry you!"?

Nvm. Here's more dreams about that boy you didn't save. THAT is obviously more important. Sorry. I just can't get over details like that.

I got a around 6700 war asset points in the game without MP on xbox. Just took my time and played though every side mission and scanned every planet.
So it is possible to get the best ending without the multi-player option; you just have to take your time and not rush it.

Was gonna say, the best ending requires 4000 (if you 'save' Anderson) Effective Military Strength, which is 8000 Total Military Strength if you sit at 50% readiness due to only playing singleplayer.

And that's if you have paragon or renegade high enough to have the option. Otherwise you need 5,000 effective strength. But who doesn't max either of those?

People that don't import a character from ME2 or a New Game+?

And since morality doesn't really matter in ME3 you can alternate Paragon and Renegade and still get the necessary Reputation.

Be prepared everyone. Tomorrow is April 1st. I'm pretty certain a majority of web sites will be targeting BioWare's Mass Effect 3 ending announcement.

We must resist!

A lot of folks on the BW forum think they're still screwing with everyone. They won't announce anything until PAX at the earliest.

****** Priestly made a post on the Bioware forums to address that, stressing that nothing will be announced tomorrow. Man, I'd hate to be them come Monday.

Why would they be screwing with anyone? They said "in April", not "on April 1st" in regards to the DLC announcement. Anyone who gets all uppity and pissed if they don't announce it by Monday (or even within the next week or two) is worthy of all of the nerd-mocking that's been happening in some of the news stories about this.

He apparently is the only one allowed to comment as he's the head of the online community or something. He's also got a really bad attitude from all the posts i've seen where he deals with folks. He's the one who shut down an entire section of the forum for 3 hours once. I contacted him once on there and you'd think i'd poked him with a sharp stick.

We all knew that they'd not say anything until PAX at least. i don't know why folks expected something tomorrow. April 1st is not a good day to release something when you're this distrusted already.
