Marvel Puts the Captain America Shield on Display at Comic-Con

LOL. I'm really trying not to look at; "It's trying to seduce me!"

I'm wrapping other runs right now, anyway. My plate is full.

I was just stopping by to admire this beast.

LOL...as soon as I saw Rylo had posted, I knew he was attracted by the aluminum monster.

it's just about as good as I could have hoped for. It looks functional and actually looks like it could stop a bullet/knock someone out - something that sometimes lacking from the thin metal painted shields.

ok guys i am working on this shield as we speak, i am working with my normal steel blanks and am gonna make a close replica... i bought the colors and will start testing them out.. with the new paint process i do and also the booth and baked clear coat, i think i can muster it...
i am talking with my brother who owns a machine shop bout doing it from a block of aluminum, well see :) any inputs on it being cast aluminum?

Yeah, after what I said about tha painted shields, *BAM* there are your ones and they look amazing!

Now I want one for my wall!

lol thanks guys, thats the new version, but i am going to make the mounts like the one in the movie for the new ones... and that kick ass star with the etched edges... i may have to have them all acid etched in and then paint it...

Cast aluminum would be cheaper but the finish would'nt be as clean. Machined billet would be the finish you see in the used movie piece. Cast would be pretty pourous after machining.

well im not able to get my bro to make it from a block of aluminum, im up for suggestions...
Bovine13: i have never cast anything that big so it would be an undertaking. and i can see how it wouldnt be as clean a surface...
hmmmmm

From the looks of the Shield (Front & Back), it looks like the whole Shield was Machined on a CNC Machine that's probably the only way it could have been done so clean.

It's a Beautiful Shield... but would be Very Expensive to recreate!
