I suppose every single word they use on this show is an “earth term,” no?Am I the only one? I twinge a little when they use earth terms sometimes.. spelunking? Call it something more Star Wars-ey. Andor used a few terms that just brought me out of it now and then too.
The problem with using made up terms is that, more often than not, you end up having to somehow explain what keelbob means when you could instead just use spelunking and the majority of your audience will know what you're talking about. Besides, Star War has a long history of not using made up words, they use blasters, senate, speeders, etc. instead of making up gobbldy gook for these things. About the only time they use gobbldy gook are for a few things that have absolutely no real life counterparts and no other real words to use to name it, like bacta.I suppose every single word they use on this show is an “earth term,” no?

On the bright side, at least they've been largely consistent, throughout the franchise, with naming their creatures. Unlike Star Trek which likes to add real life animal names to their animal, ie Vulcan hawk, Klingon rat, etc., Star Wars typically gives it a single name and no descriptor word. We get things like Rancors, and Minocs. Banthas to name a few.
I'm actually kind of surprised that no one mentioned Bo's shield in this latest episode. I think that this is the first time that we've seen hand held shields (in a live-action production) being used since the prequels. I wonder how close her shield looks to the ones that you can buy at the Star Wars hotel/fake cruise. If they do look close, is this going to result in a lot more people wanting to buy these to mod for their Mando costumes?
Oh sure, but using that word to me it's a bit like saying "tennis" or something.I suppose every single word they use on this show is an “earth term,” no?
Yes. It made no sense that he would go from Nevarro to Kalevala (in Mandalore system) to Tat and then double back to Mandalore.Anyone else feel that Tatooine scene originally followed the Nevarro one, and only after that Mando visits Bo Katan? Seems like the logical course for me: Nevarro - Tatooine - The Mandalorian System (Bo and the Mines). They probably rearranged the scenes to suit the run time.
I loved it, but it reminded me of the doctor at the end of the Lost in Space movie.I thought the creature looked like a cyborg version of the Genosis critters.
I didn't even watch "Lost in Space" and I still thought about the robot straight away on first sight.Three of us independently thought the recent Lost in Space robots straight away on first sight.
I was just waiting for it to say, "Danger, Will Robinson" at some point.Three of us independently thought the recent Lost in Space robots straight away on first sight.
That, or the lens is really, really high-powered magnification.I was waiting to see the organic eyeball creature come out of the head and be some little dude.. guess its just an eyeball?
