Re: Man of Steel pattern & Costume WIP <--PUffy Paint PIctures ADDED

wow, wow, wow. your MoS costume process has been a joy to read and watch. just joined the forum, wanted to get inspiration for my own work (1/12 scale action figure, interchangeable soft-goods clothing), and your work has been stellar to follow. discovered FOD as well and was a bit disappointed when they told me their tech might not be enough to print the chainmail pattern at 1/12 scale (appx 1/32-inch wide per "X" shape in chainmail). hope to continue searching for ways of achieving it.

in any case, awesome work, thx again for sharing your process with us!

Amazing stuff, can't say how impressed I am with you pulling off the 3d effect! Definitely the best MoS costumer so far and I am subscribed. I am new to the forum but I am interested in commissioning both a Superman and Supergirl version. I will follow along and pray you are up to the task when you are finished with yours!

Oh one thing, I found this online you guys probably already know but the original costume is actually 3 layers. So a lot of the shine is the silver layer peaking through the mesh top layer when the fabric stretches. Getting a silver layer molded to your body may be a bit much but a silver body suit mightt be an easy addition to add a little more "steel" effect to the costume.

Superman's costume, is a three-layer costume; there's a body-skin layer and then there's a muscle layer that was molded to Henry's muscles - it's a silver, metallic rubber - and then over that is a mesh skin so whenever he turns into light it looks like he's made of steel.

Cheers,
Antjel

This is looking SO SICK. I was thinking of making a MoS suit myself, but figured my thin athletic build isn't gonna do it enough justice. Still...really interested in a tutorial when everything is said and done! Subbed!

great suit, I can't wait to see this movie!

Re: Man of Steel pattern & Costume WIP <--PUffy Paint PIctures ADDED

I feel like the urethane gauntlets will be hard to get right. I would guess the best way to do it would be to have a mold made that fit them to each individual's body dimensions, but that would be extremely expensive I would bet. I bet handmade ones have a tendency to look pretty rough.

Re: Man of Steel pattern & Costume WIP <--PUffy Paint PIctures ADDED

here is a small update on the new gauntlet pull, much better color, and some sample prints on the fabric for my second suit,

Looking really good, your puffy paint technique looks very good. I think the most darker paint looks better than the blue, it seems more accurate.

Re: Man of Steel pattern & Costume WIP <--PUffy Paint PIctures ADDED

It's looking great, mate. the darker puffy paint does look better.
Keep up the great work.
