Mahoning Drive-In props

This pat year I was introduced to the Mahoning Drive-In theater in Lehighton PA. It is the only drive in left that exclusively shows 35mm films (although they do have digital capacity for VHS and non film movies). It has the second largest drive in screen in the US.

A big part of this drive-ins charm is that there are a lot of decorations and live character imitations of the films being shown that weekend. I volunteered my skills as a carpenter to make some props and sets for them. Basically I would build a set, my brother and his girl would install it and the regular design teem at the theater would do the aging and dressing up of the set.

As of this year I have done props/sets for: TROMA (toxic avenger), Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, Frankenstein, Nightmare on Elm street and Halloween. I have met some cool people there too like Bruce Campbell (evil dead), Felissa Rose (sleepaway camp), Ari Lehman (Jason as a boy) and Tom Savini (famous make up artist and actor)
