Mad Max: Fury Road

@caymenshen - Agreed. It was so refreshing to see a movie with some actual weight and consequence to it instead of nothing for the glut of 9/11 imagery we've been blasted with.

It was everything I wanted it to be.

For those going to see it, watch through the credits. Near the end is an "In Memoriam" notice for Lance Moore. Lance was a member of the Georgia 501st, and a huge Mad Max fan. He was killed in an accident in Australia earlier this year. I met him I think just once, and seemed to be a nice guy. I hope he got a role as an extra somewhere in the film...

Just saw it. Wow it's ******* awesome. The sights, the sounds, the craziness. It just oozes post apocalyptic charisma. I wanna see it again as soon as possible. :)

It looks like a big budget, CGI remake of Road Warrior in a vain attempt to make an epic summer popcorn blockbuster for a new generation (see Robocop 2014 and Red Dawn 2012)... Sigh

I was wrong and wholeheartedly admit my mistake.

Just got back from seeing it. That was fun!

This is the best film I've seen so far this year. It was as if Salvador Dali shot a heavy metal music video while tripping on acid. The acting was subtle and realistic. The world building and design of the film was fairly realistic and had a logic to it that worked for the story being told. The pace never got bogged down by heavy exposition and the visuals drove the story rather than having to be told what was happening. The editing was superb! No waste and every shot had intent. Fun, absurd in a really enjoyable way, and had some really good emotional scenes with characters I actually cared about. Definitely the best action movie I've seen in years. It makes me wonder if we'll be seeing all kinds of replicas costumes and props at the conventions this year. I liked Avengers: Age of Ultron, but I LOVED Mad MaX: Fury Road.

Amazing movie. Rarely is an idea backed by so much commitment. You could tell that this had been festering in miller's head for a LONG time

Visually great, excellent 3D which was about time.....and while not what I'd call a bad movie I did find way way overhyped.

I think it's reaching the overhype stage because a lot of people & reviewers expected so little from it.

Mad Max looks like the ultimate cheap B-movie schlock at a glance. And George Miller is not a big name outside of sci-fi & film geek circles. It's like everyone walked into Speilberg's new Jaws#5 last week and they were expecting something on the level of Sharknado. A lot of people probably didn't realize/recall that the originals had some quality and that this was the original guy doing it again. They probably expected it to be just another modern director's hackjob on a derilect 1980s franchise.

There is truth to this. It's also been in developmental hell for a decade. That's another red flag.

When I saw the first trailer I thought Suckerpunch. Or at the very best, the fifth element (both being examples of over the top passion projects )

But then I looked at miller's resume. He's been successfully directing since mad max. Just not in sci-fi.

However, the critics are right. The fans are right. It's very, very good

A 70-year-old director, with $150 million of cars, good actors and a helluva lot of sand, just showed up almost every single action movie made since the 1980's. Bravo, Mr Miller. Bravo.

Yeah, I didn't find it overhyped at all. After having a week to digest, I still say it's fantastic. Amazing action, gorgeous cinematography, actual thematic weight...one of the most enjoyable movie experiences I've had in ages. Already planning a third viewing.

If I were to compare it to anything, it would be crouching tiger, hidden dragon. It has a simple plot and a ton of style. But at the core, there is still substance.

I thought it delivered exactly what was expected. My girlfriend (young and sheltered) couldn't wrap her brain around what she was seeing hahaha

My second viewing was borderline tedious. Still good though. This time I brought my 10-yr old son. He enjoyed it. At the end he goes, I can't believe that was rated R! Lol!

On another note, I was expecting 1979 Ridley Scott when he did Prometheus. Oh boy, what a letdown that was!
