M41a spas 12 dimensions

Sorry if this has been asked already somewhere but I am trying to find the dimensions of the spas 12 handguard for a NFA pulse Rifle build. Since the spas 12 parts are so rare my FFL may have a guy who can mill them but need actual measurements. This is the last thing I need prior to sending off for federal permits. Any info will help thanks in advance.

Best thing to do is find a spas on your local trading pages. I found one and traded a remington 870 and remington 700 for mine. I may be able to help with measurement. What specific measurements do you need?

Just let me know what measurements you need mate, I’ve also done a 3d printed replacement heat shield and pump grip for my Spas12 deac.

Just let me know what measurements you need mate, I’ve also done a 3d printed replacement heat shield and pump grip for my Spas12 deac.
Hey man thanks for the help. I need the overall length width and height for the heat shied. Knowing the inside Diameter would be great as well.

I'd dismantle a spas 12 if I could find one but they are 3-5k currently.

I take it you 3d printed with resin? They look amazing. How sturdy is it? I'd attempt it but don't think it would hold up to actual heat of the gun barrel after a few rounds.

When I get this thing done and all the federal paperwork completed I'll post some pics

Edit: would you be willing to share your cad files and stf files? Much thanks that's probably all my Smith needs. Much thanks again

Yeah I’ll dig the files out for you mate, the only thing is I’ve had to make the cage and pump grip a tad oversized so it can be fitted without breaking it, it’s not noticeable unless you put them side by side tho..
The Spas cage in my 3d printed PR kit is smaller...

Howdy folks,
I am dying over here... Over the past 6 months, I have been collecting all the correct parts and pieces for a Live-Fire M41A.
I have everything but the SPAS 12 heatshield (cage).
I purchased the Mauri Softair SPAS 12 and pulled the part but it is pretty weak and flimsy considering what needs to be a fairly strong piece of the build.

I reached out to a member on this thread but have not heard back.
Can anyone point me in a good direction? I am SO CLOSE to completing this to get it built.

Many thanks and all the work here is exceptional!

Best regards,
Matt (a.k.a. Grendel_Blitz) \m/

if im able to get the 3d print files that were mentioned earlier in this thread, im going to start experimenting with casting the heat shield. if i find success, ill be sure to update you.
im not too confident since the walls are meant to be so skinny, but maybe its possible to make it work with a little casting network in the middle that could be removed after the pour. fingers crossed!

DiNull - Thanks for the response!

I am on the Facebook M41A PULSE RIFLE BUILDERS group and just got a response back from a member....

"I could print it out in a polycarbonate or nylon filament, but I doubt it would still hold up to real shotgun usage. The file wall thickness is only around 2-3 mm as it was meant to replicate the look and not the functionality of the original spas"

Since this is for my Live-Fire build, it seems I really need to find the actual SPAS 12 metal foregrip cage.
One just listed on eBay for an insanely-obscene amount. It sucks that folks are gouging these things now.

I will continue to be patient and use the MAURI one for just the looks of it until I can acquire the metal version.

Again, thank you for the response, and good luck with your 3-D tests and builds.

I saw that Ebay listing and was astounded by the asking price.
I had no idea they were so hard to get. Have seen a few firing examples at midwest gun shows, never thought about actually buying one but you may consider reaching out to a firearms dealer or armorer somewhere in free america and ask about getting the parts you need? Machine Gun Vegas has some they use for rentals. I wonder if they would be willing to help you with your build?

good luck to you! I hope to make a process for a replicable alternative that could stand up to live fire because the idea of SPAS 12 shotguns becoming even rarer makes me a bit sad. i know there used to be a metal airsoft replica of the SPAS 12 called something like the sheriff SPAS 12, but those seem rarer than the gun its replicating! good luck again and thanks for the response

Have any of you thought about 3d printing in metal?
Lots of companies do it.

Or even getting it laser / hydro cut or milled in sheet form then bending and welding it yourself.

metal 3d printing is a great idea, though im not sure how expensive that would be.
the sheet metal idea did occur to me though. and would offer the most authentic look. I thought about designing some bending jigs to 3d print, but im not too knowledgeable on how that works yet.

Last night my buddy (who owns an extensive machining shop) and I were discussing the possibility of fabricating the heatshield cage.
Getting the holes and the overall shape cut could be accomplished but the bending is the big challenge. He has an actual SPAS 12 that we could use as a reference but again, the bending and shaping of the cage is the big rub.

Who knows.... I will continue searching for a metal cage in the world.
Patience and time. I have both.

Thank you all!!!
