Luke's Lightsaber Mando series finale.

Yeah, I was joking about covering up the V2... I actually hadn't seen that picture before. Still better than the Visual Dictionary using the Stunt instead of the Hero.

I'm not entirely convinced there is a boxless stunt. Many of the scenes has the actor holding the hilt in a way that has the box is facing outward. In the two handed force push bit, the box would be facing away from the camera. Also I'm not an expert on sword fighting by all means but his grip on the thing doesn't seem natural and suggests there is a cumbersome box in the way of his fingers wrapping around the entire thing.

I'm not sure about that last pic, but my assumption regarding the hand position on the hilt is to hide a thick neck on the stunt.

...and the fact that in the early 80s with lack of tech they didn't need to use a thicker neck for any scenes...the mystery continues but after seeing the making of season 2 and them obviously leaving out anything Luke related, i believe a "special" is coming.

They also didn't use lit stunts in the 80s. They can't seem to make FX sabers with a thin neck, though several fans have been able to make them duelworthy with a thin neck.

Idk, it's just a suspicion due to the fact that the only other Disney-made Luke Saber we have (GE Legacy saber) has a separate neck for the blade, and the two times we have seen Luke's saber lit and in action (Mandalorian and TRoS) we do not see the thin neck. Granted the GE saber is consumer grade, but we still haven't seen the thin neck of Luke's saber in a duel since RotJ, where he held the saber on the top of the grenade section and the top of the windvane was fully visible.
 
i dont want to go down that rabbit hole myth of "thin necks not being duel worthy" the whole idea of that originated from cheap Chinese saber companies back in the day..

the v3 and v3 were very duel worthy back in the day and they had their cast.. prequels also had some thin necks

no ones every had a problem with the solos hold gen1...

wish i had a starkiller hero/yuma backup to go hit the tree right now lol

I know they are duelworthy, I am saying that we've seen little to no evidence that Lucasfilm propshops have made duelworthy thin neck sabers that light. Both Luke and Leia hold their hilts very close to the emitter in the ST and Mandalorian, and these are the only thin neck designs in the post RotJ era.

The PT and OT had duelworthy thin necks, but neither used lit stunts. The way I see it, there is either a thick neck on the stunt, or there is definitely a control box and the actor held the holt higher to avoid it.

I think there is enough evidence on screen that the FX mando Luke does have a thin neck

Holding the hilt up there makes it easier to spin around

It definitely looks thin neck which is nice. I found it absolutely baffling that fans have made duel worthy thin necks and freaking DISNEY could never splurge a lil extra cash to use better materials to get the same effect. Instead their Force FX had a thick neck and their recent GE park saber swaps from the grenade section up. I feel like buying tougher material would end up being cheaper than making 2 whole new upper halves of the hilt.

You would think, but that's more about having one blade that can be used in all their hilts, legacy and savi
