Luke ROTJ V2 lightsaber

Solos Hold uploaded a video to Youtube with his new V2 saber.

I noticed the nipple was actually a structure inside the emitter and the emitter plate slips over it. Leaving a gap. Do folks think this was an FX decision or have we been thinking (specifically) V2 nipples wrong this whole time?

I don't believe this was an fx decision as the nipple is intended to be paired with the static emitter so Scott must've seen that gap detail when he held the actual prop.

Hmm, I was wondering if this was how the gap around the nipple was really done, and the emitter plate literally being a plate. I suppose that a solid emitter and a pieced emitter would have the same deep nipple though and leave a gap..

I'm hoping to explore both methods in my saber experiments.

PPP do these close ups help ?

Straight close up.

With both contrast & light boosted quite a bit.

Option called curves that allows each part of the colour/tone distribution curve to be enhanced/suppressed. I just fiddled to get the most distinct contrast for the alleged knob (magenta bit).

As I could isolate something from the hilt body means there's something to isolate but I know it's not ideal & certainly not 100% conclusive.

Is the circular machining mark on the pommel of the real prop raised or recessed?
From what I can tell, Solo's Hold V2 does not come with this machine mark

I believe that spot is much less pronounced in real life and isn't really raised or recessed. It's just where the bit stopped. I think it's one of those things that if the light hits it just right, it's visible, but not as big of a deal as what people have replicated. Probably want to ask scottjua .

That's what I was thinking as well.
I also don't think it'll be difficult to add-in the mark to SH V2

This tutorial is great! Thank you
I don't know how I missed this (must have passed out at night)
I thought I watched all of your vids from start to finish :)

Now taking orders for Solo's Hold 2019 Stencils. Please see the first post.
