Luke is a tool in ROTJ and Chewbacca is buck naked. SW Overthunk.

He's the only one with fur. And he could put on some pants and a sweater. And we're tree dwellers. And why does he have fur if his home planet is hot?
Plenty of Earth animals with fur that live in tropical or arboreal areas. Take a gorilla to Antarctica and see how he'd fare. ;)

(...we're tree dwellers?)

Anyway, the movie established it was too cold at night for any living thing outside the protection of caves, artificial shelters, or specially-equipped vehicles (which weren't ready yet).

So while we're on ESB...they left behind Luke's X-Wing at Imperial-occupied Cloud City, but he has it back in ROTJ.

I thought the Ice Cream Maker Guy got away with it... he wore a flight suit at least.

(And there could be a cut scene in which the princess and the Wookiee, the droids, that Lando dude and Luke retrieve it, like they did later with Han...)

:lol

Wow. I have seen Star Wars what, 3 or 4,000,000 times? I have never ONCE thought about Empire occupied Cloud City. Totally makes sense why Lando would become so gun-ho rebellion as well. I love this thread!

If Obi Wan disappeared when he became one with the force, why didn't Qui Gon? He died a normal lightsaber related death.

They should've CG'd Qui Gon into the end of ROTJ too. None of them would have been there if it was't for him.

What did the trash compactor monster eat anyway? all that was in there was water and metal.

Speaking of the trash compactor scene, 4 people take a 20 ft dive onto shards of twisted metal and none of them have so much as a scratch.

I always assumed (despite using the same model) it was supposed to be another one.
Recovering a single X-Wing, even that one, isn't worth risking a battle.

That was a great point about the compactor monster N. Along those lines, how the heck
did it get in there and why?!?! Maybe it eats metal?

Wasn't the reason QG didn't fade away was because he didn't learn how to become one with the force in the netherworld yet? I imagine some sort of "what dreams may come" things going on with QG in the afterlife. Its a shame Liam Neeson wasn't in Ep3. That was a mistake.

You convinced me K, I think it was another ship.

With all the technology why didn't R2 D2 speak human as well?
how did Han, Luke and Lando get made up to high ranking positions with the Rebellion so quickly?
Why is Star Wars still being analysed by us?

In the Lucasverse everyone is promoted to General. Doesn't matter if you're qualified or not.

I guess everyone forgets his little manuever in the battle of Tinab(sp?).

Suprised no one has brought up the whole Parsec thing...

I always looked at it as if the astromechs are really ship navigation/maintanance computers as we see in Ep 1. There is really no need for it to talk back. You have a problem on the ship's exterior, it automatically senses it, and climbs on the hull to fix it. Inside a ship like the X-Wing, it helps with navigational support etc. R2 is just a SPECIAL astromech. Does it answer all questions? No. The idea of the beeps and whistles is just a charming writing device.

[2] how did Han, Luke and Lando get made up to high ranking positions with the Rebellion so quickly?

Since the Princess is clearly at the top echelon of the rebellion (particularly after the death of her father), it makes sense her say is weighed heavily. You listed all people Leia would push to become leadership.

I think this was the most misunderstood line in history with regard to its intention.

It was SUPPOSED to be said wrong, hence Obi Wan's eye roll. (The script explains this). I think Sir Alec may have underplayed his reaction (the script calls for an obvious reaction) but the line works to me nonetheless.

If you want to believe Han meant what he said and was correct, who said one kind of race in space can't be measured by shortest distance instead of our Earth races which are all measured by shortest time period?

Well when you put it that way...I guess it makes sense.

Why is it that everyone in the SW universe can understand every other creature. R2, Chewie, etc... except Jabba needs an interpretor.

How did Luke and Han jam there clothes under the stormtrooper armor and did Luke have his own comb or was it an imperial issued comb from inside the utility belt (his hair was nicely combed after the trash compactor scene).

Why doesn't the Stormtrooper armor protect them from ANYTHING? Blasters, stone arrows...whatever. What's it made from, cheap plastic?

With all the technology why didn't R2 D2 speak human as well?
Because he was copied from Huey Duey and Luey from Silent Running. And they beeped and booped.

Why is it that everyone in the SW universe can understand every other creature. R2, Chewie, etc... except Jabba needs an interpretor.

Well as far as I know, the only one who can understand R2 is Threepio, and the only one who understands Chewie is Han. (They speak English to Chewie, but never indicate they understand his responses like Han does) So there are language barrier issues established.

If I remember correctly, doesn't Jabba use Threepio mostly to translate between he and Boushh? I think its believable a gangster would have more dealings with outlanders than the average character.

With regard to Jabba:

1. Han Solo understands Huttese in the OT (communicates with Greedo (and) Jabba in the SE)

2. Luke is from Tatooine. It would be HIGHLY unlikely he didn't understand Jabba, hence no interpreter used for him.

With regard to Star Wars in general, we do get many examples of English speaking characters speaking English to aliens and the aliens responding in their own languages. As if everyone understands everyone, but use their own language back. One major exception seems to be Threepio's attempt at Huttese and his later story in Ewokese.

Anakin and Luke seem to understand Artoo. Luke's could be interpreted as more of a general understanding, like knowing what your dog wants, but Anakin seems to be able to literally understand his "words". At least in the cartoon, I haven't seen ROTS in years (but do seem to remember this happening).
