I guess this means we'll get a desmond feature episode in the next week or two to show how he ended up in widmore-jail and/or what his alternate story is.

I wonder if the look implies that Desmond has been to the future and knows that Sayid is now allied with Smokey? I had a hunch that Faraday himself might have been unstuck in time at some point prior to his death (else why the 'Desmond is my constant' in his journal?) and it's possible that during his mental illness phase prior to his dad recruiting him for the final, fatal mission to the island, he didn't jump to the far future, meet everybody during the endgame, cross paths with Desmond again in the near-past and fill him in a bit on what's going on, then jump back and promptly forget everything he had learned in the future? Might allow Desmond to know that Sayid is a baddie and may give him insight into what to do going toward the end of the series. Probably too much time-travel confusion for the average viewer though...

Well maybe John Locke will return once Smoky is removed from his body. Perhaps he will end up replacing Jacob as the good guy that watches over the island.

But Smokey is not IN John's body, he's merely impersonating it. John is dead; he was in that box, and we've seen his body while Smoke-John was inside the statue's foundation... I'm afraid that in the original storyline at least, John is dead.

He's been dead since before the ajira flight left LA. By the time they'd get back to him he'd have been in his grave a week or two. Plus team jacob from the ajira flight carried him in that metal box for a few days, too.
Resurrecting him to his body would probably not be a pleasant experience

I thought there was a quick shot of a bald guy standing on some rocks over looking the ocean. Dark slacks and a light colored shirt made me think it was (dead) locke? MaYbe its widmore?

Is this the picture you're referring to? If so that's from season 5 when Locke (smokey) first woke up from the plane crash and was found staring out at the ocean.

I got a chill when Charlie turned to Desmond, even before he raised his hand... I suddenly remembered how Charlie had died. And I enjoyed the revisting of Desmond's jumps between realities...
Seeing Daniel again was cool, and Eloise was all kinds of creepy! She knows something, but what, and how?

Desmond has always been a favorite of mine. Yeah, when Charlie and Desmond went into the water I thought 'hey, irony, Charlie drowns just like he did on the isla- .. HEY! LOOK AT THAT!' Love that Desmond seems to be a bridge between the two realities, and glad to see Daniel is back!
