lost boys MARKO jacket replica!

Nice!! Could you tell me the measurements of this? It would be cool to print this off onto canvas at the correct size as then I can have the legs too for the arm.
Okay so my phone sucks and does not take great pictures. That being said, I still tried to get a couple. They can be cleaned up with photoshop if someone wanted to but honestly the current version we have is pretty spot on and decent quality. The only thing wrong in the leopard strip is 3.25" and the correct size should be 4.25" with more black on the top and part of the brown background showing on the bottom of the strip. That being said the size isn't really too far off, it's just missing material on the top and bottom, I'd say the leopards are roughly a 1/4" too small. The Cleopatra lady's size is pretty correct.

Awesome

Awesome thank you, I will do the same, and change the fabric. Thanks for those. I will probably have to get the blue sky peacock for the time being as I can use two pieces from that, that don’t show the sky, but I will just swap out the parts with a red sky one when I find one.
If your not wanting to wait to find the correct peacock, the Taj Mahal one is a decent placeholder and more common. The blue will look "off" IMO. These tapestries come up in waves. Nothing for a long time and then a bunch will show up. I have seen a half dozen peacocks in the last year, and a dozen correct leopards. You just gotta watch and be patient. Ebay, etsy, poshmark, mercari....

Nice one they look awesome! Thanks for that, It’s cool to know the ones we already have are very close.
As for the tapestries im going to see it somome on here will send me a decent photo of the cheetah one and the red peacock, which I will then print out with contrado and use them as stand in while I track the real ones down.
I thought it would be a good idea to print decent pictures off the originals on to fabric like the velvet and use them as a Template, which I can then swap out with the real parts.
also I thought it would be a good idea to use the contrado prints to cut out the correct sizes and shapes first, so then I can use them as templates for the real tapestry pieces, saves cutting up and ruining the real tapestries buy cutting them wrong. If I have the have the pieces cut I can use them as a guide.

Just found this forum and I am really enjoying it. Hopefully, I can perfect my patch making craft for the Lost Boys collection. I have digitized all of them I believe but always willing to try new versions. I offer them through my eBay store. Really interested in getting the tapestries done but had forgotten the name of the company that does them....so thank you already for that information :)

I wouldn't try dying it, all you will do is make a mess and waste your money. Just use the blue one as a place holder until you find a red one. As for the jacket, the original was a medium black levis but any black denim jacket will do. Also your leopard is facing the wrong way but is still totally useable. The front wont be very noticeable, just the tail in the back will not look correct. Also you could use the red sky commonly found Taj Mahal peacock. Just an Idea. Heres a jacket someone made that is not movie accurate but still very cool none the less. I like the buttons he added.View attachment 1450182View attachment 1450183

Hey, are the lost boys patches available on eBay right now the ones you’ve made?
I saw them the other day, pretty cool to see someone making them, I need to get all the patches at some point, but I am really contemplating making Them myself, as I can hand stitch patches, as I’ve been doing it a long time, but obviously they are not as clean as machine made ones, and take forever, but something about having the jacket completely handmade interests me.
but saying that I may make a couple and then get some machine made. So it’s definitely great you offer them
these are some of my hand stitched patches so you can see what I’m talking about.

The member IMGM has and un-cut peacock and LexisWinter has an un-cut leopard. PM them and maybe they will snap a picture for you.

Your referring to Sonyatf, super nice lady and makes most of the patches. I think I like Popculturecrafts and SweetlySynnD patches a little better just because I like their stitch work a little better, but that's my opinion and is subjective for debate. They are all good patch makers though.
However Sonya's are a good alternative, more readily available, and she's nice to deal with. She is working on a special custom warriors patch project right now and I will share the details later this week. She's doing a test run on denim like in the movie. The real one was chain stitched on black denim. She's sewing it on denim and it will allow for the proper frayed edges.

Ok thanks I will do that! You are right about research and studying I realised today my matador is off the stunt jacket so now I need the proper one it’s all good fun hunting

Thanks to you‼️‼️‼️
Hey, I was told you have a cheetah tapestry uncut, could you do me a a huge favour and send me a decent full
Size photo? I’m building the marko jacket myself but I want to print off pictures of the tapestries that I don’t have so I can use them as templates to build a mock up jacket, so I can use the copies to cut out and have templates so I don’t destroy the real tapestries by cutting them wrong, and this way I can swap out the copies for the real tapestries when I get hold of them.
would that be possible?

Discovered Lost Boys recently and I am definitely late to the party but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to have Marko’s jacket after I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. I have been looking at this thread for ages now and I finally mustered the courage to start my replica. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. It has been super helpful.
One tapestry down many more to go lol.

Could you send me a a pic of your peacock tapestry? In full? I’m gonna try get the pics printed on to fabric we stand ins untill I find the real tapestries
Would you do that?

The jacket uses BOTH, however you can get away with just the hero version, but not the stunt by itself. The bull will be the wrong way.

Page 17 post 340 talks about printing these at Contrado. Using the plush velvet may not yield the results your looking for due to the fact that the dye does not penetrate down to the bedding and will have white "roots". FYI

That's pretty impressive, I like your chain stitching.

I was gonna do it on velour stuff that you did the back and front ladies on, it’s only a stand in untill I get the proper tapestries so it’s not a huge problem. And I’d definitely like to cut up something first before the tapestries, like a mock up

Hey PennyWise,

I have it from a very reliable source that both the Warriors patch and the Skull/Arm Rider are actually both Chain Stitch Embroidered.

You can clearly see this by these two pics if you zoom in...

I always thought the Ghost Rider was because that's how they used to do the old school biker club patches. It cost alot of money to have chain stitching done so I never wanted to do it.
I had no idea the Warriors patch was. I always thought it was painted on and I found that a bit odd considering all the other patches were mostly embroidered. Are these from a real jacket or are they fan made? Come on man, you can't just leave us hanging, tell us more!

That’s exactly why I taught myself how to do it as it costs loads of money to Chainstitch.

These pics are an update I got from Brandon and the Jacket he made that started this thread... He's put a LOT of research in and after he told me about the Chain Stitching, you just can't un-see it in close ups of the Original Jackets. If you zoom in on any pics you have of the Originals (the prop store pics are the best which I've attached... This is an Original Jacket. Zoom in on Pic 4 & Pic 6) - I'm 110% certain both are defiantly Chain Stitched. It's case closed for me ;)

I'm always happy to help btw but you're all wayyy further on than me with actually putting yours together. I've been collecting bits and gathering knowledge for 7/nearly 8 years now and I'm in no rush whatsoever to make mine until I know and have everything to do it 100% correct :)

I believe you (pennywise) and myself are only two of a few lucky ones to have a Cleo and a Snake Lady? They're out there (I even spoke to the son of the Ha-Va-Ti company and even he couldn't help telling me what the two lady taps were called! I'd love to one day find the paper each tap came with)

I've also spoke to Susan Becker who made the Jackets and she said roughly 6 Jackets were made in total. I know the whereabouts of a few but no owner has ever wanted to help have replicas made (which I understand) one even blocked me when I asked for pics of his.

I could write paragraphs and paragraphs about what I've uncovered/collected/dead ends/pics etc but in all honesty... Over the past year or so you've all dug up wayyy more info than those of us who have been researching this for like I say 7/8years for me.

If I think of any other useful info I'll happily share. My build literally just needs a few Original Patches (or super close replicas) and I can finally begin making it (I've enough bits to make two or three and an inverted Jacket too)

I don't think I'll be cutting into my Cleo or Snake Lady mind... I intend on taking super hi res pics and getting the best prints possible made from those.

I'm based in the UK too so it's been a costly process so far (that's why I dip in and out of the whole process) the daily search for Lady Taps was so gruelling that now I have them I kind of kick back and be patient for any Patches to pop up. I'm in no rush.

NOTE TO THOSE WHO ARE NEW: This Jacket takes Patience. Lots and lots of Patients.
