Looking for thoughts on this T-800 Endoskull - "Metal Fire Inferno Skull"

I'm currently looking to buy a 1:1 scale T2 Endoskull, something I've wanted for a very long time. Options are limited, but the Sideshow and HCG versions do still come up on ebay.

Whilst researching the subject, I came across this. They are replicating the Endo from the T2 opening credits that emerges through the flames, which had metal teeth.

To a layman like myself, this version does look very well done. I'm probably wrong but it seems its origins lie in the M1 vinyl version. General shape, the cast teeth etc. The eye rollers look too big to me and the ball joints at the base of the skull don't look right but overall it looks fantastic and all metal.

The price is more than I want to spend, though the Sideshow Clean version goes for about the same on ebay now  I'l probably get the SS Combat version and clean it up but thoughts and advice from more knowledgeable people would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have this one, it’s fantastic, it’s based on the original Bronze metal prop that was made by Stan Winston Studios, for use during filming of the fire inferno opening sequence of the Movie.
I love it and weighs a hefty 14 lbs.

It really looks fantastic! Very little info or reviews, or anything really out there about it though.

Could you possible provide dimensions of it? Their site lists it as 140mm x 180mm x 230mm (assuming the face is 23cm tall and 14cm wide) which seems a tad small. Love that it weighs so much though

I’ll measure later when I’m back home. The only cheap part was the display case, it’s a little flimsy so I got another one made that better reflects the premium replica that it is. But it is a real centerpiece of any collection and I’m very happy with it but I’m no Endoskull expert so couldn’t comment on its size accuracy.

People are usually shocked by the weight when they handle it.

He talked about it here? Can you post a link? I can't find anything via search. I'm definitely interested in one but I want to do my homework first.

Yeah, it’s roughly 180mm high, 230mm from front to back and about 140mm wide.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it (y) Is it only 18cm from bottom of the chin to the top of the head though, surely that is the 23cm measurement?

Thanks for the link. I haven't been a regular here for quite a while so missed a lot of cool new stuff posted here.

Yep, 18cm height, the 23cm is definitely front to back of the skull.

Ok thanks. The thread linked above mentions that a M1 Thai recast was the basis. These are known to be small. Still it's a spectacular looking piece.

bump. lol

Thai Vinyl Kit, is copy of the Phantom Kit, which is a copy of M1 ( which technically a little shrunk from its original mold, too. ) each time it goes through a the molding process, it shrinks a bit.

This Metal skull is directly from a mold of the M1 and has used a process which minimizes the typical shrinking.... so its bigger than the Thai kit.

overall still not 100% to scale as I'm told its impossible, unless drastic measures are taken to scale up and drive up cost. I am not certain if I want the metal teeth or wait for a possible remake using resin teeth >_< .... such a great piece I didn't think I needed until I saw it.

would you mind sharing photos of how you have it looking in your display? I am really trying to talk myself out of getting it but its not working lol

I've inquired about ordering this when I'm ready and the creator really seems like a stand up guy

Sure, I did get a better case made for it.

so amazing... i hear he may do a second version that have the addition of the neck pistons/hoses, a short neck with base... and resin teeth. It'll cost more ... but urgh... i may have to wait and see before I buy. I can only afford to buy this once lol

I just got one last night! It is absolutely amazing.
Aaron was a real pleasure to deal with. He kept me informed with constant updates and pictures along the way. I appreciated that.
I wasn't in much of a rush, but it was very nice to have someone update me without me having to chase them down.
The skull is incredibly heavy. I was stunned that it arrived intact. Usually weighty things shift around in transport. Aaron was able to pack it well inside the bullet box and the there were enough peanuts and bubble wrap to keep everything secure inside the outer shipping box.

The chrome is well done. Very shiny. I didn't have time to spend too much time with it last night, but upon cursory inspection, I didn't see any imperfections, blemishes, scratches, or dull spots.

With all the resin recasts that have popped up recently on ebay and other sites, I'm really glad I got this one. Nothing can take the place of a heft of real metal, and the quality it instills when you hold it.

The lights are turned on via a small pushbutton switch on the bottom of the skull. It's flushmounted so it took me a second to notice that there was even a switch there. I was afraid I would have to pull the batteries every time I wanted to turn on and off the lights.

Overall, it's very well done....my kids and I love it... and even the cat

Here are some pics right out of the box (after I installed the batteries).

The display case was sent earlier and separately along with all the paperwork.
