Looking back 100 years from now

Re: Looking back 100 yrs from now

That post made me think of Ben Stiller. Great in comedic roles and not a bad director, either.

Re: Looking back 100 yrs from now

Intense drugs will be dispensed over the counter.

What do you mean will be?

Some of the OTC MJ is pretty damn intense.

...oh and Johnny Depp is a pretentious, anti-American Jack Wad.

Excuse me, CAPTAIN Jack Wad.

Hey I give Johnny Depp credit because he actually left the U.S. and didn't chicken out like all the other people who hate us and still live here. You know because they wouldn't be able to do their job anywhere else. :rolleyes

As for the most remembered actor, no. He's a good actor, but he's no Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, etc.

I think that within the information age, many many things will be kept relevant long after they perhaps should have faded into obscurity. We'll continue to nitpick and hash out even the most bizarre and limited appeal stuff long after it's gone ad infinitum.

Well, what and who from 100 years ago is really remembered when it comes to entertainment?

In 100 years everyone'll probably be living in shacks due to social and economic collapse or a world like that in Idiocracy so I doubt many folks will remember stuff from this time period.

I read and article today that claims in years to come Johnny Depp will be remembered as the greatest star of his time and history will rank him with celluloid legends such as Humphrey Bogart, Rudolph Valentino and Clark Gable.

All due to the critically acclaimed "21 Jump Street." :)

For various reasons, names that I think will be remembered years from now:
Tom Hanks (No. 1 imho)
Steven Spielberg
Harrison Ford
Clint Eastwood
Julia Roberts
Jackie Chan
James Cameron
Michael Jackson (pioneering cinematic music video, among other obvious reasons)
Sylvester Stallone
Bill Murray
Stan Winston (obvious contributions to the industry)
Meryl Streep
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Brad Pitt
Robert De Niro
Sean Penn

I'm sure there's many others, but these are the first majors that come to mind...

Re: Looking back 100 yrs from now

i think Jeff Bridges should be/will be remembered.
I concur, and I certainly hope he is.

As for which films will be remembered, I just hope Idiocracy isn't revered for being prophetic.

you missed off Al Pacino & Quentin Tarantino :confused

Ask the average 20-something on the street who Madonna is and you -understandably- get a blank stare.

Media memory goes back about six months to three years, that's why popularity polls are usually 75% recent stuff, 24% easy to call classics and a margin of error.

100 years from now ? Name your top ten of best actors/actresses of 100 years ago without googling. I can get about four, maybe five on the average time it takes to post a response, might bump it up to seven if I feel like thinking about for a while.

You'll be asking this to people who react to 3D HD media, like people react to black and white silents today.
